I have a D-cut stocker and an untouched JD plate... I use the d-cut stocker for surf, then change over to the JD for flat water...

question: what are the benefits of the cut JD plate? Does this server both flat and surf conditions, so you no longer would need two ride plates?

I don't know if there are any benefits. I just happened to have 2 of these and no stocker.

I doubt this will be good for flat days but maybe...?

I would love to chop up my Shredmaster one piece, but considering they are around $800 for a new one, i just can't bring myself to do it.

I cut a stocker first and likes the "feel" in the surf, however, In a straight line the ski was really loose, and had no straight line tracking above 1/2 throtle. The JD cut plate is the best of both world now. Ski tracks straight because the low spots (rear outter edges) act like fins when going faster, and in the surf, on a wave, the cut out takes away that water pressure on the back of the plate.
I dunno the beifits of the D cut on flat water. In the surf, on a wave face, it lets the back of the ski sit lower and helps prvent pearling.

I take it you've never seen one in person. Nice piece for sure. Yes they are one piece intake/rideplate. Not sure about that 800 tag, but they're expensive(like $4-500).
