Hey im new to the forums and to the sport.


I live in Grimsby and theres some pretty good lakes around here.
And i have lake Ontario right beside my house,
So im looking into geting a Stand-Up Jet ski to start Rippin..


So right now im in the search for my 1st ski,
theres some things i would like to know though:


- Is it best to start off with a slower/cheaper ski and see how i like the sport?
or Get a Good ski right away? (Like whats better for the money)


- I'm looking for a fast freestyle ski , and im mostly gana be rideing in waves and not on flat water , Any idea what skis i should be looking at ?


Thats it ! Any other Tips for me starting out would be cool too !

You should be able to do very well.

96 and up Yamaha Superjet 701 with footholds, shortened pole, low end prop, reinforced, aftermarket hood, Factory B exhaust, steering system, head....pretty much a turnkey freestlye SJ for that kind of money I would think.

is that like 5000 U.S.?

Don't buy new. You'll end up having to sink a another $1500-2000 to get the brap you want and any other handling mods.

Take your time and look around. You aren't gonna be riding until April or May up there anyhow. So you got 5 months to find one. You may have to drive to the states, but then again I had to drive from Boston to Owens Sound Ontario to get mine, so you may get lucky up there.

Plenty of guys ride up around your area. They post her all the time. Get a Superjet, 96 or newer, 701, with a wet or B pipe, bilge, prop and hopefully a handpole and some footholds, and you'll be good for a while.

If you are new to this sport than why would you want to spend all your money up front ?

I say look for a Square Nose Superjet (90-95) with a 701 and some mods.
For $2000 you should be able to find one with all the bells and whistles needed to have fun without the overinflated Round Nose price. Heck, you can pick up a good running square for the price of a round nose hood kit alone.

If you end up getting hooked on this sport you can learn to mod the hell out of your square, cut it up, glass it, paint, what ever tickles your fancy. Once you are done playing with your square sell it for the same price you paid and step up to a round nose.

What ever you decide just have fun and do what's right for you.
