Help

So I just recently bought my first stand up jet ski, it's a 1988 kawasaki 650sx. My steering appears to be either loose or not working at all. When I turn my handle bars nothing happens. What do I do to fix it? Or is there anything I can do? Please get back as soon as possible!

When i grab the nozzle and turn the bars the nozzle just stays in one place while the bars move, as soon as theres pressure on the nozzle it doesnt move side to side.

You may need to have a friend help you if this is complicated for you. Any friend that can work on a car, boat, motorcycle, atv, anything should be able to figure it out. Steering is a very simple system.

Make sure the cable is connected to the nozzle and bars on both ends. Make sure the cable is held properly to the hull in the pump, make sure the cable is properly held in the bracket by the bars. Make sure the cable is not broken. Make sure the nozzle is not broken.

Sounds like you have a bad cable or the bracket that holds the cable by the bars is broken.

On either end of the steering cable (one end up by the handlebars, one end down on the steering nozzle) you will have a piece that looks like this. First check to make sure this is securely attached to both the steering nozzle and the steering plate. If both of those are true, then you likely have a broken steering cable.
These are generic images taken from the web and not of your specific model but they should give you a good idea of what you are looking for.
