What are some of the methods you people have employed to protect your gas tank against the heat of your wet-pipe?

I burned a dent into the tank and want to offer some protection for the future.

I thank you in advance.

Had the same issue in the past, and tried a few different things, im curious to see what other people say, right now i just have a little piece of turf glued on the tank. hasnt melted yet.

When I was running the wetpipe I never had an issue with it touching the tank. It's was close so I put a piece of turf on the tank just in case. Can you loosen the hose clamps on both ends of the chamber and rotate it more towards the side of the ski?

I cant remember but I think I was able to loosen the clamps and twist my pipe and now there is like almost 1/2 of space there. Grinding the extra crap off of the inside bond rail might have helped alittle as well. Pretty sure it hasent ever been an issue. Hope that helps and good luck!

There is this stuff called mototile they use on dirt bike to keep the sidecovers from melting when they are near the exhaust, it comes in fairly small pieces and is self adhesive, I can get you a piece at the Bamafreeride brothers discount price if you need it LMK

The ones I can get are also made by Maier but the kit contains two 5" x 2 " strips for a total of 10" x 4", stuff is fairly cheap, retail is only $6.50

I will get them ordered and put them in a small flat rate box, they should not weigh much, defiantly cuts down on shipping charges
