I've found that speed also plays a huge part in a nice sub. Too fast and you'll go over the bars, too slow and it's tough to get the nose to penetrate the water.

I'm probably the best subber of my crew and I'm still only getting decent subs 80% of the time. I often back off and do the gay, nose bounce. I think alot of my "yips" comes from coming out of my footholds in a sub last year and cracking my nose of the front of the ski. Most of my buds won't do them anymore because of the same sorts of experiences.

p.s. Jetskiking, when's your crew gonna get up to Red Top and join us? There's probably a solid crew of 8 of us every weekend and often even more. You know we've started to call the Tanyard guys the "Bouy B*tches"

That is true - however, I have found that with proper technique, I can sub at just above plane speed and up to medium speed. As long as your angle is right, you're good. The slower you go, the steeper your angle.

Yeah and dont try them at high speeds because the outcome isnt usually pretty.:banghead: Is it possible for a handlepole to pass through your body:bigeyes:

I have done them at 3/4 throtle just for fun. It can be mucho painful to the eardrums it seems to suck them out fo your head. When a bunch of us are riding together pretty close to each other and close to 1/2 or more throtle I will just jab it in there to stop all of a sudden kinda neet when they look over and you are gone all of a sudden so I have been told... LOL I am usually under water when they look.

ok maby i can help i have only had my superjet for 4 months and i just tryed subs for the first time last thursday, i have no footholds and my ski is totaly stock, and going in on trying this trick i only knew press your feet on the side of the tray and push down on the bars, i would try and try and try i was gitting so pissed off, then i finaly did a good one it felt like i got the wind knocked out of me but it felt good:arms: i will bet you anything you are trying to get to much air, like the nose way to high because when its that hi their is no way you can bring it down in time, just do little bunny hops try and keep the ski level on the 2nd hop lift your knees and push down and hold on:woot: and it will work, on the first day i got the ski and me totaly under the water, i wanna know if you pull it off next time??

Thats whats hard about trying to use your throttle to jump more than body english, it usually sends your nose too high then you seem to have to fight to get it back down. Im still really new at this, talking about last night at work gave me the itch so I went out after work and tried a few, probably got 3 good ones and half a dozen sortasub's but it was fun.

jetskiking-I'm on the gas at least a little

speedfreak-wrong angle, always going up and can't fight the ski over and in

sjbrit-on accident i see that i almost subbed going with the wave( not wrong)

dan-trying to get too high

Thank you all I will try tonite (weather permitting, afternoon thunderstorms, thats FLA) I'm positive that I will get it,even if its a small one!

I will post results!

I can live with that, but I'm not a very handsome man to begin with busting my nose won't help and my wife may ban standups! others mentioned some nasty stuff so I'm just curious.

I've never gotten hurt subbing, or attempting to.
Not sure how to smash your nose during a sub, but I am sure it's possible.

Suicide sub=to much forward rotation, instead of using the ski to dive you use it to catapult your balls into the pole and your face into the water. Its a pretty cool trick!

The entry is not necessarily a dead stop. If the pump goes under, and you gas it, you can keep going.
And yes, you can stay on and ride it out (regardless of speed).

I found it is quite a bit easier to get penetration (yeah) if you are going a little bit faster than just on a plane. It looks kinda dumb if you go in then bob back up to the top. Im still working on the riding out part, cant seem to keep my feet on but I dont think Im tucked down enough.

yamanube is your ski stock or no footholds at least?

Matt what do you notice about the diff between old and new, I'm looking for a round nose(cheap of course). Ive ridden a kawi440 with a 550 and it seems a lot lighter than my ski's. my kawi seems faster then the sj and both are stock 650's
