hey can you guys give me some specific info on what im NOT doing? I can pretty much jump the ski out of the water in any condition. the other day I was riding in some chop and accidentally almost did a sub. ive tried to do like a bunny hop or table top whatever you may call it and push down/forward but no go. any advice is appreciated.

What ski? Do you have footholds?

With footholds, it's pretty easy. Just jump/bunnyhop/whatever, pull up your feet while in the holds (lifting the back end) and push down on the pole (shift your weight forward)
That oughta do it.
If you do not have footholds, you can press your feet against the gunwhales and lift up like that.

Biggest thing for me was commitement when I first started doing them sometimes at the last second i would puss out. Point that nose down and like MAtt said press your feet against the gunwhales and lift up and take the dive. Good luck

92 superjet-stock 93 650sx stock. thats what I'm trying to do. but I don't get any downward angle at all. this is why I'm posting-remember way back when you first attempted and try to explain. if the previous is exactly the way to go I guess I'll just have to keep trying.

Lift with your feet and push with your arms. Committ to it. Once you do, it's actually easy to over-do it and go over the bars.

I wonder if I may just be angled backwards too far. It just seems to me that my push on the bars is not making anything happen. trust me I'm not scared, just can't get it down. if i did it once I would know by the feel how to do it repeatedly. maybe i'm trying too hard to get high out of the water and instead I should try to just pull the rear of the ski out and push in?

very easy to go too far forward once u get it. Lift up with the tray and push down on the bars. I noticed they were much easier to do with a full tank of gas too. helps the nose go down

i understand what I'm supposed to do, just not working that way for me when I push forward seems like I go back instead of the ski going forward.

I was having the same problem, after reading all kinds of advice I still couldnt do it just had to practice a bunch, I did a ton of pancake dorky ass lands until I finally figured it out. Commitment is definately the key, Ive done a couple of suicide subs and banged into the bottom and that kind of throws you off for a while but when your up in the air and coming in you will know before you get to the water that its going under. I try to think of it not so much as pushing the front end down because that would just make me pancake but rather to jump up and tilt the ski, act like your are just trying to tip the ski on its nose, dont push down or pull up necessarily just air and rotate everything (act like the front of the tray is the center point) and teeter the ski forward.

haha DUDE I know what you mean by the "pancake dorky ass lands" haha thats perfect wording for em because thats exactly what they are. I hated doing those!!!!! practice practice practice you will get em. Like I said b4 a full tank of gas helped for me.

You definately want to figure em out and get them DOWN before showing off too! If you can do it 50% of the time chances are that when people are watching your are going to duff it and look stupid (like me) or when you do mess up and you get a nice big "SLAP" on the water and people look over to see you crouched down, soaking wet, and everything but under water thats cool too. Good luck.

This is what works for me on my superjet. I bounce the ski just using my weight not the throttle. If you use the throttle it will angle the ski the wrong way and its hard to get the nose down. When your in the air pull up with your feet and you really dont even need to push on the pole just get it in front of your face. I tried to put together a progresion of pics. The bounce was done without the throttle Then just pull the back of jetski up to your a$$ and poof your gone:biggthumpup: You do need to be committed and the ski be up on plain.

I jump the ski without any weight movement at all just throtle. But anyhow what I always tell people is pratice the basics just jump the ski up and learn how to land it flat with no imput from your body at all. Adjust how far you hold the bars from your chest or how far your knees are bent untill you can land them flat with no effort at all then with a tiny effort you can land them slightly nose first not even going under and when you get that down then all you have to do is push slightly with your arms and pick up a bit with your feet and your under DEEP.

Remember everything starts with the basics. You have to learn how to move the ski with little effort before you can do anything or you are just pushing it around which it weighs more than you and that is hard to do.

not to hijack but is this possible with stock sxr.....i can nose stab some and a few other thing but no sub yet is it same as SJ?

I actually bounce twice and on the second I do give throttle a blip. I just find it easier to tell people to start by not using it because then your not having to fight the nose back down. If you bounce without the throttle and pick up the back then you just go under.I do it both ways but I found I go deeper when I bounce it with my weight and pulling back on the pole then bouncing with the throttle. I dont get the whole the ski is under but not my head thing going on.

Another way to make it easy is to jump off a small wave in the same direction that the wave is going. Normally you jump a wave in the opposite direction to its motion, but if you do it in the same direction then it's really easy to get the back end up. Any little wave will do: boat wake, even a little 1 foot chop from the wind is enough.
