So...when we drilled the hole for the dual cool, I was lucky to find out that my foam was soaked to the bone in the tray....to the point where water is pouring through the pinholes in the glue and 5200.

we reinforced under the nose yesterday...yay yippee no problems.

today, we put her on her side to reinforce the sides...and as we're laying glass water starts accumulating by the exhaust tube. we dried it up and tried to work around it, but it kept coming through.

besides my existent problem of water in the tray, will the resin cure if there is a little bit of water laying on top of the glass?

right now we tilted the bow up a bit...to try to keep the water from pouring in any more...but it is still happening.

it was at one point a drip of water every 5 or 10 seconds...now it slowed down.

You should probably open up the back and get that foam out of there as a first order of business.

:haha:

told you woody....

you need to at least make some drain holes at the bare minimum if you want to refoam next season.

ps: the ski weighs ~130 before reinforcement with bare hull, footholds, intake grate, midshaft and turf.

thats 15 pounds heavier than the SN we just did that was reinforced(sides & nose), and all the other happy crap on the nose and gunwhales.

just checked on it... that rag was soaked...

the glass and resin all around the area is tacky and hardish to the touch where we were shining the shop lights.

the spot where the water is coming through is still mushy and wet.

i have a feeling it isnt going to cure. i guess we will see how it works out tomorow morning.

If you mixed it correctly it will dry, except it most likely won't stick to what you want it to (the hull) You need to stop the water from leaking in before you glass. If you don't plan on refoaming (if you 're a surf rider don't bother) then stand it up on end, let it dry and re do it.

well i put some heat lamps on it and had a rag sitting on the exhaust tube while it was on its side to wick up the water.

i waited about a half hour for it to get tacky then i flipped the ski back to the normal position on the stand.

some of the glass/resin dried a little white in the spot where the water was dripping, but its solid as a rock. i dont think he will have any problems and the ski is way stronger now. plus the bulkhead is sealed up good with 5200 and the factory foam fill holes are glassed over.

i think those holes were a majority of his wet tray problems anyway. one sticker was missing, and the other was ripped. plus the ski had no stock bilge when he bought it, just a single rule 500. so there was probably always a good bit of water in the hull sloshing into the foam holes.
