help sn wont start

i think i have a bad starter coil or something. I had a dead battery and switched batteries, let a noob hook it up and they did it backwards. Now there is a noise from the black box towards the tray on the engine compartment. But still no start. All i get is the noise, no crank. i started taking things apart but i think the hitatchi labeled coil is blown, anyone ever have this.

could be the starting solenoid.... i had one go bad and it will just click

does the motor turn over without the plugs in it? (grounded out) or at least by hand. can you jump the starter solonoid to see if the starter is still good?

anyone in MI have a relay i could pick up? Maybe i could do quick shipping. All i hear is clicking. I am not sure how or what to jump. If i connect the two 8gauge red wires in teh box then it won't even click, the fuse is good, can't figure it out.

Remove the plugs, reach under the coupler cover (with battery disconnected) and try to turn the engine by hand. If it will turn over then the starter is suspect. If it won't then you have something wrong that will necessitate removing the cylinder head for further inspection.

pretty sure is has something to do with the starter relay, afterall he did hook up the battery wrong, neg to pos of batt. Could that blow the starter too.

no but the relay will click if the starter is jammed up or the motor is stuck. do what we say and check back before you go buying un needed parts

ok, i hooked the starter up to the battery and it turned right over. So i have ruled out the started, and the motor turns by hand. Must be the relay.

now we're talking. so when every thing else is hooked up the relay just clicks but doesn't turn over the motor? or does the rely just hum a little. we can rule out the motor, starter and probably the start switch too if you can hear something coming from the relay when you hit the start button.

exactly, must be the relay, any hints on where to get one, the local dealer don't stock anything. Never has what i need. And my local guy doesn't have one either.

not sure where you could get one in a hurry, my local yami dealer usually orders stuff in pretty quick. Maybe do up a post in the Want To Buy section and a fellow rider will hook you up.

[SUPERTUNE]

Like I have said in other posts with Superjets...they need the negative battery cable replaced often as they rot out at the starter connector from old age and vibration. Get to a auto parts store and just get something that you can bolt up to replace the stock one for a cheap fix. The stock one from Yam is about $50 now!
