Freestyle Help on Full Re-build, 4 Beginner.

long story short. I have a 06 SX-R and a rod got bent BADDSC00531.JPG

Since I have the engine apart I would like to do some internal mods.
I'm getting a new oem Crank/rod assembly.
I plan to do the following:
New pistons
new head
and some bore work maybe .5mm over

what are you guys thoughts?

Should I go for more compression with a High Comp head and not bore it, or both?

I'm looking to increase power with internals. maybe 10-15 percent. and then exhaust in the next 3 months or so.

New pistons, a 0.5mm over bore, and a little bit of compression increase won't give you anywhere near 10-15% more power. You need to look at porting.

how did you bend the rod so bad? the piston doesnt even look bad

maybe if you ask bigfish real nice he will give you some tips, i found with kawi's the biggest improvement i got was with msd TL or atleast a light weight flywheel..

Well long story short, a friend was on the ski and was trying to sub it by riding in a tight circle under WOT for aorund 30-40 seconds. turns out he was partially successful. got enough of it underwater to submerge the port air intake in the hood. slowly got water in it, and it hydrolocked. BAM
 
I hydro locked my super jet once. It scared the crap out me. I ended up blowing the water out with out screwing up the motor.

On a side note you should take matt's advise and have it ported. Since you have it all apart why not.
 
Do yuo guys recommend anyone for porting? I'm looking for a mild increase in power, from low to mid range RPM.
I talked to my engine guy about porting this afternoon and he ask if I had templates to port to. I looked at race logic but i heard on here that their out of business. Could porting the exhaust port on the sleeve and the crankcase around the intake just give me a mild increase, like what i'm looking for?

did you take new pistons to your machinist?

A guy pretty local to you, "BLUE" on here does some Yamaha porting/building. He may be able to help you with your Kawi.
