Hey guys.. Does anyone know where I can get a helmet for freestyle and racing? I have seen some people using mx helmets, but I figure those will hold water pretty bad. Brand name, or website would be awesome!!

Thanks

I use a Fly helmet, which is comfortable and good value, but it does have the problem that it drains water down your face for a few seconds after submersion, which can be a pain - perhaps others can comment on how other types drain. It's not something you think about when you buy one, but it's an important factor, for me anyway.

The Bellistic has minimal foam padding and mostly closed cell hard foam as the liner. I have had no problems with water draining down my forehead or face. What little water does collect seems to be concentrated on the sides and back. I do not notice much if any weight difference once wet, only that sound is a bit more muffled. BMX downhill bike helmets seem to be the better choice.

If you're going to use it for frestyling just buy yourself a cheep BMX helmet. I got my helmet on eBay for around twenty bucks and I'm pretty sure it already saved my life. While at Daytona the ski impacted me behind my left shoulder and head. It hit me so hard that broke my left collar bone and knocked my helmet completely off. I thought was going to lose consciousness for a few seconds.

I have the Fly dirtbike helmet, fits nice on my head, the only problem I have with it in the water is boogers getting stuck in the chin gaurd.
I think its more of a perosnal problem though...

Thanks guys.. I knew there had to be some helmets out there somewhere. Loads of options to choose from thanks to ya'lls posts. I dont think I need a dot approved one yet because I havent started to race yet, so a cheap one should work great. That remindes me does anyone race in Florida? I have a pjs viper 550 that I would love to race, but I cant find anyplace to race.

Thanks again
Jay
