Helmet Cam

I want to get a helmet cam. The ATC2 seems to be pretty poor quality video?? What do you guys think. I want a bullet style self contained camera. What do you guys run? There is also the GoPro Hero camera. This is a standard style camera that you mount to your helmet. It seems to be better quality. I would think the water pressure would break it off the mount the first time you did a nose stab??

Lets see some reviews.

most of the people i know use the gopro camera. watch any of the o-side crew videos and u can see where they have them mounted...and they go big so i wouldn't be worried about losing it.

the atc2k sucks.

theres an atc3k but its not much better.

i'd get the gopro if i were you. i own both a go pro and an atc2k

You can use the surf exansion kit and tether it to something incase it does get knocked off. The 3M sticky mounts are super super stong. Car racing teams use them to hold body parts togather.

This is how we make the majority of the Oceanside crew videos. You have to learn to ride while looking at what your filming and not were your going but we've found it's by far the best set up. Were experimenting with other camera mounts with the wide angle also. Go to vids and check out Matt Smiths short clip. The camera was mounted in the bow eye.

this is how i have mine as well and it works perfectly. when you take a spill u know instantly that your camera is still attached because its right there. no having to feel the top of your helmet. a buddy of mine picked up the wide angle camera and apparently they don't make it with a wrist strap yet so you have to mount it on the top of your helmet. Just make sure you use some fishing line or something to make sure its tethered to the helmet in case you break the mount. but the wide angle is pretty sweet.
