what can expect weather wise when I get up there? I have never pulled a ski a long distance like that so what tools and such should I bring along. I bought some trailer locks yesterday.

make sure to bring a jack some wood a spare tire. maybe a bearing kit or 2. if there is any doubt with the trailer bearings don't risk it. if the bearings fail it will be ugly. had this happen before and it sucks especially on the road.

good luck

bring a grease gun, air tank or small 12v compressor, extra trailer parts like bearings or wheels or whatever you have, lug wrench, pliars (for cotter pins), spare c-pins, etc.
cover all the bases. if a bearing overheats and a tire blows you want to be ready. flares, cell phone and other road emergency stuff is also important.

bring a friend if you have one

Bring a pickup truck and skip the trailer altogether.....
Throw the ski in the back and go.

Either way, if you have a trailerable cover, or can borrow one, bring it...just in case the roads are covered in salt.

well last night my house a had a little problem in the attic involving 80 year old wiring, 80 year old insulation and a fire truck so the trip is going to have to be a quick one. I have to have the breaker off for half of my house so I need to get back as soon as I can so I can get up there and fix it. thanks for the offer though guys.

I am bringing the wife so I wont be making the trip alone. the trailer is only about 2 years old and it probably only has a couple hundred miles on it so I don't think I will have any bearing problems. I packed a bunch of tools just in case though.

ok we made it to pontiac, Il last night which is a bit farther than I expected to make it. so far the trip has been smooth sailing. we are going to try to make there and all the way back home today.

i like to have a complete hub assembly along with a spare tire/rim.

if your bearings fail, theres no trying to replace a damaged race on the side of the road. its just a kotter pin and as castlenut. same thing if you have a blowout.... just replace the hub, rim and tire all at once. options.

weather is going to turn to crap this afternoon.
every county you are going through..
