head pipe question

when water enters the head pipe through the adjusters does it spray into the opening or drip or what? If I were to remove the adjuster and replace it with a brass sleeve with a connection to a cooling line with a valve to adjust pressure would it work? Anything I'm missing? advice?

Anyone else have an issure with the design flaw of the head pipe? using stainless adjusters in an aluminum thread is begging to seize. why don't they put a stainless threaded insert in the head pipe at the adjuster locations?

It is supposed to spray. However, obviously that depends on water pressure and condition of the screw/hole.

For best performance of any "wetpipe" a spray is needed.
The better the atomization, the better the performance and adjustability.

But I am curious how it actually looks.

old trick taken from the RIVA Spec 2 pipe is to remove the adjustment screws, drill out the hole (outer to a larger size) then drill and tap the spray hole out to the size of the smaller Carb Jet (Little Head), that way you can change the hole size, then at the outer hole, tap the hole and use a 1/8 npt plug.

I have heard that factory pipe will repair/replace the head pipe if/when the screws sieze...if this the case. Cause I have one that I am about to call them about..

I don't think the tip shape has anything to do with the power (weather you use the stock screws or tap it for your own screws). However, if your custom threads have a higher pitch, you'll need to open it fewer turns.

After about 3/4 turns on the stock screws, the water is flowing freely. The stock screws don't fill in the hole like a needle on a carb screw does. I think that would be a good idea, but that's not how it works (at least on my pipe it's that way). The screws just rests flat against the inside of the headpipe.

You don't need much water at all. Like BigK said, you would need to restrict the water with carb jets if you ditch the screws altogether.

would useing the injectors without a brain from a msd water injection set up work? I could restrict the water flow maually so it's not flooding it.

I think the solenoids come in the closed position, so they wouldn't help. There are brass barbs that accept main jets... I'm not sure who sells them, but they shouldn't be too hard to find.
