i am an old guy with a little money... I am probably going to buy a non-HD for $99. Hard to beat that.

The $160 difference would go a long way towards some mods for a poor HS kid.

theres not many mods left for me to do.....I own Ratti's old ski. Next step is a new hull.

I was thinking bout picking up the non-hd but was more wondering if the quality was worth the money?

haha.. that s cool.. your not as poor of a HS student as I was.
I cant say if the price is worth it, I have not seen raw footage side by side on a nice monitor. It really depends on what you plan to do with the video? Produce videos, get HD. Play around with your buddies and youtube. Standard is probably fine.

My other thought for the $99 is that if you lose it, you are not taking as big a hit.

Thanks man....my parents payed for half of it for my 16 birthday.

Ya I'm leaning toward the non hd one just because if I lose it I'm not out $200

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't your computer have to be able to handle the HD memory requirements to edit the video? I remember reading that from a post a while back.

if editing HD you will need a program that is HD capable.
HD will take longer to render and will need a little more horsepower in your PC.

Theres advantages to both, HD obviously has a better picture quality but remember when you post up vids on Youtube or Vimeo you lose that. The down side of Go Pros HD is both the cost and its only available in the fish eye which is really only good for filming your self. You'd be better off to get both a regular lens wrist mount and a regular fish eye lens. Both cameras combined will be less than the HD and you will be able to film yourself (with the fish eye lens) and others with the regular lens. The HD's recharble litium battery is better but you can just use rechargable batteries you get at Home depot with the regular Go Pros. I've been using mine for years
