HD Go Pro as regular video camera???

Its time to replace my old Sony camcorder. I need something for basic family use.
I am on the fence if I should buy a cheap HD (Flip or similar) or get a good handheld HD (probably Canon).

Which got me thinking about buying an HD Go Pro (instead of Flip) because they are virtually the same and the GP is waterproof. Plus I could use it while skiing, etc.

Anyone have experience with the Flip or using a GP as a "standard" video camera?

ive never used my go pro as a reg camera, but its 5 mega pixels so it does take good photos

Remember that the GoPro has that Fish eye.....everything you record will have that "look"....
A Friend of mine has this one and it's really good, and the price is great.

It is hard to shoot regular video with the gopro because you can't see what you are recording at the time. There is no LCD screen to view it. So who knows if you have everyone in the picture or not. Also there is no zoom.

if u want a great compact video camer go for the Flip Mino HD cam. i got one for hanaukah and its awsome. shoots super high def and its smaller than a cell phone. the zoom isnt that powerful but besides that its a awsome cam. hold 2 hours of video with no memory card

i guess the GoPro is out... may get a Flip or similar.
