Havasu...what ever happend to Freestyle ?

Dont get me wrong I had a great week in Havasu everything was great....but what ever happend to freestyle ?

Or should we call it $$$-Style now....more bucks, more HP, more backflips ?

I am missing new tricks, new combinations, perfection of oldschool tricks, what ever happend to all the innovative freestylers ? Or daredevils...boat wake and no double backflip attempt....mmh mhhh..

What do you guys think ?

I agree! But don't be confused by the boats that were driving by, they didn't really have a good idea of what they were trying to do. I'm trying resolve that for next year already :bigok:

Alright! We all see the problem. Now who wants to do somthing about it? Shall we do some sort of freestyle pact? Lets all step it up next season. I would like to see 20+ riders in Nationals amateur class (I and II) next year. Freerides are fun and help our sport grow, but if just a handful of the people went to competitions. If a fraction of those capable riders made a weekend trip to Nashville I would love to see the outcome :thewave:

Move the World Finals to the Surf. Thats what I think.. :spank:It will be more exciting and draw bigger crowds. Daytona would be perfect because San Diego won't do it.

problem is you can't schedule surf.

this weekend most of the southeast coast of FL was garbage surf.

I guess you will just have to be optimistic. You know, the glass is half full and all that. So if the surf does not cooperate then it would be just as good as any flatwater event. I say a surf race / freestyle event would be off tha hook..

You didnt even go out Sunday.... South side Jetty Beach break was over head. I was doing backflips with my ski running like its on one cylinder.

I watched Dre do over 10 clean BIG flips... Your just not hard core. But thats fine :poke:

Daytona use to hold Race/Freestyle events back in the Day.... I watched Loyd Burlew do Handstands along the beach in waist high surf. Back then there was no Barrel roles or Backflips. Stabs were about the only arial trick.

Today freestyle has progressed, but the only way to make it bigger is to have surf events. I think flatwater is just boring to people. People want to see Big air. :lightning:

I tried to make a few events this year but the weekends that they were held were either not good for me or it was to far away. So in place of competing I did 2 WFWA freestyle shows. I had planned to make some events with my buddy Mack but he never got his boat together. We were going to split the cost of travel and that would have made it more economical for both of us.
