FX-1 Hard time tuning 61X with single 44

The 144 pump is great. I have yet to have as full rip session with it as im trying to work out this issue but I can feel the difference for sure. Once I get the hooker 9/15 I ordered today and get this thing dialed it should be pretty nasty. Then ill be bench building a real big boy motor setup. Also plan to rocker the nose soon but shhhhh

Does this look like a crack in the head pipe

If you are certain the problem is not in the head, could it be in the base gasket?

Base gasket will not cause water in the cylinder, unless you run your ski half full of water, my guess is if your ski is half full of water you have bigger problems than a base gasket.

Well, one of the head pipe bolt holes in the manifold is stripped out now. It had been helicoiled by the clown I got it from, using a standard coarse thread coil (with bolt to match. Im going to have a local guy weld up asnd re tap all three holes and im buying those pretty new stainless head pipe bolts from jet maniac. I wish there was a way to test the headpipe while its off, but i already did the only test I can think of. Also planning to buy a new head gasket and try that with the stock head. One change at a time though, or I wont know which change fixed the issue.

Also...how hot should my head pipe be getting? Mine gets to the point where i can hold my hand on it for about 3 seconds...my friend says his never gets that hot, and its part of the reason im a little suspicious of the head pipe. Can anyone else chime in here?
My cooling is routed as such:
Dual cooling from pump, both into the manifold. One line from back of the head, into bottom of the head pipe. One line from front of head to a pisser. Front of head pipe to stinger, t'd into a pisser.
Should the head pipe run cooler than that, and if so, is that indicative of a crack somewhere, that may also be causing my other issues?

For some reason I was thinking that water jackets ran through the top case half lol? Just trying to help throw some ideas out there.

edit - I just looked at some pictures, what is with the open areas in the castings that at a glance look like water jackets?

Maybe your head pipe is getting hot because not enough water pressure is making it there since its washing down the cylinders?

They are just casting voids, only engines that I know of that run water through the cases are yellow motor seadoos, Seadoo RFI and DI models and older polaris Fugi engines, there may be a few more I am not aware of, the Yamaha 6m6-61x-62t-64x is not among them.

Too much water in the bpipe? Do you have a restrictor inline after the Headpipe so the pressure is right inside the Headpipe?
