handpole spring install problem fx1

adet16v

No like winter
i have a 1994 fx1 I am trying to install this spring on. I got it used from a board member. The roundnose superjet and fx1 springs are supposed to be interchangeable... I have it almost all the way in but i cant get the bolt to line up... and on top of that the spring stands the pole straight up and you have to force it down.

i have an AC pole on this its not stock, is it possible i need a different spring for the AC pole?

here is a pic

I dunno how the spring fits in that AC pole, but mine is a bitch to get in. It also has a lot of tension on it. If I didn't have the bolt so tight it would just stay up. I'm also running the Blowsion bracket, which you might want to consider when your stocker breaks.

Could it be upside down? The stock spring just has a straight end into the bracket. The Blowsion bracket will only work with a straight end 'cause it has to fit into a hole.
In any case if the spring is too tight you can heat it and bend it a bit.

I had to beat the hell out of mine to push it through. I used a rubber mallet in case i missed the bolt and hit the ski. It worked its throught and it has lots of tension.

i dont know if this is the best way to do it but it worked. Just beat the hell out of it... and a word to the wise.... Dont rest the pole against your head to hold it up while hitting it. I rand my ears so bad I thought i had gone def. it was scarry lol.

Good luck, maybe the 8-9 we can ride in pitts.

Thanks-NICK

Yeah, the hole won't line up unless you can hold the tension on it. We beat the bolt trough with a hammer while trying to bend the spring down the a scrw driver. If the spring lines up with the whole, there wouldnt be much tension then...
Lots of time and lots of cursing, then it';ll just happen out of the blue it will be on...

hey ross told me that a SJ MOD chamber will work in the Fx....
yes, but it rubs on the tank. I was hoping someone would have one arround that they didn't want to put on their super.

alright i got it in, it was in upside down, it is still standing the pole straight up though... guess its time for handpole limiting ropes

thanks guys

The spring will lose some tension and let the pole go down further after its been on there a while.

Blowsion has a Fx1 hood hook for the bracket ($25 extra)..
Requires moving the latch on the hood back 1/2 inch or so by the way..

Also, mine is purple anodized. It looks good with the stock Fx1 colors
but it surprised me they just sent it like that without giving a color option..
