How much glass should be used?

I used one layer of 1708 and now I'm thinking that I should have put on a few more layers.

It's foam. How many layers did you use Frosty?

I know it's best to do all your layers at once, but should I go ahead and add some more anyway?

What type of foam? Is it the typical expandle two part stuff, or something else.................I'm assuming you just wanted the glass to lay flat and needed to fill the voids?

Why did you choose foam over Cabosil? Weight, flotation, or something else I am missing?

yeah, two part foam, like used in the tray. fills the voids and makes working the cloth easier than trying to mould it to the odd shape of that area. It's lighter and works well. It'll expand up like a loaf of bread... i used a sharp knife to cut if flush with the pole mount area.

Foam is recommended for the pole area to fill in those big voids.... 2 part foam... get it at US composites website...

Cabosil/epoxy or foam for the bondline is about a 50/50 split on which is prefered.... personally, I chose the cabosil/epoxy for the bondline... you dont use a ton of it, so it is not going to add more than maybe a pound or so....

Just did one ski, and am working on another. Used the cabosil for the bondline, but was just wondering about the nose. We did ours slightly different...........

Nice looking work dog....................

If foam is used make sure your reinforcement laminate is plenty thick. The only problem with using cabosil to make filler is that its heavy for that application. You will save weight using micro balloons, mix 2-3X by volume and add a little cabosil to keep it from running.
