I heard that its not worth it, because of how much port volume you loose. Thats just what I heard!

I've heard bad things with it too - a tuning nightmare
Really? That is hard to belive with group k work because they always seem to work every little detail out and if anything does not match up right they scrap that part or bail on the whole project. I would like to hear more.

I've got it.

I run it with a wet pipe, Jetinetics flywheel, blackjacks, and Solas Mag.

It screams. Absolutely rips.

It's not really ported for freestyling and Harry likes to keep it a little conservative so my advice would be to send your engine off to Art at Jetworks in the offseason if freestyle power is what you're after.

I have had one in my ski for 2 years, the first year it was just the way Harry set it up (very dissappointed) only had 160 lbs. compression for my sea level 1000ft. ( I told Harry but this is what I got) There was no arm pulling torque so I put a wet pipe on and it help. This year I tore it down and measured everything and found out the porting was not much different then stock just with wider ports and a bigger boost port. So I went back in and re-ported the cyl. and put a ADA bigbore head with 26cc domes ( 180lbs.) and a dry pipe, now it rips.
I do recomend the bigbore but I would have somebody else port it for freestyle for you.

I've ridden a few group K boats. They all always start & run but none are very powerful.
A mild limited will kill his sleeper kit and it costs about the same to build.

if you are interested in going big bore of having more work done, try talking to Steve and Kommander. he has extensive knowledge on the kawis and is worth talking to.
he has made the wifey's SXR haul, has alot of bottom end and we are using the stock pipe too.

don't forget about the DASA cylinder

IM working with Steve right now for a Kawi DASA stroker engine right now. I rode a 849cc group-k sleeper before and it was a turd. It really needs a pipe and a flywheel to wake it up.

group K

don't bother, I ride at 8000 feet so spent big $ with harry to try and get it to run like sealevel, was a tuninig problem at first but ok now,but only a afew feet quicker, but no faster than my 2 other stockers, probably because of impeller, so verry dissatisfied, he did lighten flywheel, true or taper bore carbs, stock pipe mods, porting, big bore to 849,I made it very clear that he needs to weld fill the doems and then recut for an extra 50psi but it is only 150psi,now I have a wet and dry pipe to try, I guess the tuning nightmare is about to start again.

if you are 8k', why not try throwing on an ADA head or something and change the domes
i also think the stock pipe is a limiting factor with the larger CC's
i like the simplicity of it, but if we do steup i will get rid of it for a wet pipe
even with the setup now, next year i may just do that

very hard to read your post with that distractingly beautifull picture next to it!

I have examined a GroupK 845 cyl, it should be very good for freestyle. It has a lot of trapped volume and upward angled transfers. It will be running soon and I will post some thrust and rpm numbers.

anh, scratch all the numbers, just pull a good air monkey flip or a flat-water backie.
