Recently I have read a thin coat of grease on gaskets before assembly will make disassemble down the road much easier. After getting this 6m6 prepped for transplant into my square anything that helps keep the gaskets from bonding into the ski is worth a try! What do you guys think?

I use it on the B-pipe 3 hole gasket and my carb to intake gaskets. Works very well on those applications but I use Threebond 1211 on cases, crank seals, head gasket, piston dome O-rings, starter O-rings and anything else I want to seal up good.

Grease them damn things also helps with the initial seal by wetting the gasket slightly making seal real well. been down this road with several boats. i will always grease my gaskets the go to my exhaust setup.

Silicone as in rtv or lube? I use grease myself, hate RTV, and never tried silicone based lube. RTV works good as a last ditch to get out and there is no other choice, but it always ruins gaskets when I tear it back apart.

Were not saying they need grease to seal its just that greasing them makes it easier to remove them. You won't have to sit there for hours on end trying to clean the surfaces up with a razor blade.

Mine don't need grease, but I've found it makes them reusable and that is handy for tuning in carbs especially. On my Kawi, I have a one piece cast pipe that wraps around the entire motor and I can't touch much of anything with that on there. It's just an additional fail safe or good for a problem that pops up the day before riding and not needing gaskets on hand.
