I just got home from the event and I have a social obligation I'm late for right now. Yes, I have a lot of video work to do. Sorry it starts with a couch. That's how the tapes worked out  It was mainly stand ups.

Could someone watch it and post the time the stand ups start? I gotta go...

Should have included a link to the event web site:

Now that I am done with my social obligation let me take the time to explain. I wanted to get a video clip up quickly before my social obligation so my homies in the Northwest could see what I did. It's a raw, unedited quicky of the last tape and does need some work.

As far as having couches at the event they might have wanted to get the body count up. Having 18 riders instead of 12 sounds like a bigger event. Maybe a couch rider would come to the event as a spectator, see how much fun stand ups are and convert. OK, so I like to dream big.

There were 12 stand ups and 6 couches. X2 were considered couches for this event. A few people on the X ride X2s.

There were 4 X2's so the two couches at the start of that clip were the only true couches at the event. That is probably the only part of the 2 hours and 17 minutes of video with just the 2 couches. Just random luck of changing tapes in the camcorder and being in a hurry.

There are stand ups later in the clip. If you are upset by couches feel free to drag the slider until you see what you want. Sorry if I upset you. Please accept my apologies.

I'm kind of beat after the weekend so don't expect more tonight.

I have created a web page with an index to videos and pictures from the event. It's located here:
http://www.barry-blanchard.com/movies/jetski/freeride/graylandopen2009.html

This now includes Matt_E's pix and a time lapse of the event setup. Yes, it's the same video and still starts with couches. Deal with it! Decent video takes a long time to process. DJ and Chris N. take a while too. Maybe some positive comments would inspire me to get busy. Thanks Gorilla!

I added the other two tapes I had for a total of 2 hours and 17 minutes:
http://www.barry-blanchard.com/movies/jetski/freeride/graylandopen2009.html

I will work on downloadable video files, DVD images, etc of those videos. Not going to get serious on editing until I get feedback from other people who were at the event identifying the riders.

Thanks Chris,
I was also having computer issues working on the video at the time so I was frustrated. The issues have been beaten into submission. Went out riding Monday and Tuesday so I feel better now. That did cut into my video time but it's the only valid excuse.

I don't expect my video to be as good as yours especially considering the overcast conditions, etc. I feel it's better to have some video than no video. Someday one of those amateurs could be a major rockstar (I'm looking at you Adam, Mr. Three Trophies) and the old videos would be cool for his history.

It's a lot better than some of the PWC video on Youtube where someone is using there cell phone and laughing.

I have a file that you can download and make a DVD out of the Grayland beach videos. Make sure you have a DVD burner, software to burn DVDs, a blank DVD, 10 GB of free hard drive space, a fast internet connection (slower will work just takes longer) and a couple hours to download it. Click the link below and select the option to save the file to disk:
http://www.barry-blanchard.com/movies/jetski/freeride/graylandopen2009/GO-ISO1-8G.zip
Even on fast connections it might take almost 2 hours to download.

After it is downloaded it should look like a file folder with a zipper on it.
1. Open that folder and drag the file out of it to someplace else.
2. Double click on the file you dragged out. It should fire up your DVD burner software and ask for a blank disk.
3. Insert disk, burn and enjoy!

The DVD will allow people with couch allergies to zip past those parts at like 32X. As I said before I don't plan to do any editing until I get feedback from people who can identify the riders. Also need the locations of the sick tricks and gnarly wipeouts.

If you would like to help find the tricks and wipeouts so I can do more custom web clips and the next DVD please feel free to help. There should be a button on your DVD remote like OSD or display. There should be numbers on your DVD player but OSD is easier to see. That should show you which tape (chapter) and the start and stop time of the cool parts. Grab a note pad, a cold one and help the cause!

Once I have the information about riders, etc I can do a proper DVD with scene selection and title screens with the riders names before each round. Also add the cool clips as bonus features. I will also adjust the contrast a bit, etc so it's less washed out.

It's nice to see a pro pull off a great trick but watching amateurs giving it all they have in nasty, messy surf is pretty cool.
