IMPORTANT: Do not mount the coil within 6" of the ignition control unit.

Found this on the MSD site.

But I have seen more like yours than split. Heck, a buddy bought one of Tera Laho's pro-mod SJ's set up the same as yours. Only I would say yours will be more reliable!!!!!

Yeah I read the same thing on there site.. I asked john about it, he said he used to mount them on the battery, but did a few like this and asked the customers for feedback on how it worked and he said nobody has had a problem yet. He said he would like my feedback also.. We shall see!!

I am guessing the newer Digital systems are not effected by the RF interferrance that the older systems had (May not be the best discription). Crammit or Tricky could explain better.

I always found it odd that MSD says that since the picture they show on their installation guide is definitely mounted closer than 6". I think it's a plow to void the warranty... :scratchchin:

I've never seen a total loss setup that had the two seperated by 6" but I haven't looked that hard either. I wonder if the digital systems are less subjective to interference because they are in a metal case instead of a plastic case like the analog systems.

edit: I double checked the install guide for model 4272 and they don't say anything about seperation distances.
