Wow. Rough crowd.
Enjoy the Z400. They are nice 4 wheelers. Don't bother modifying it if you aren't going to keep it. It's much easier to sell stock 4 wheelers and they usually bring about the same as modified ones.
I buy and sell lots of crap, and I have found that there are certain price levels that people expect to pay for things. If you add parts/service to the thing that brings it over the accepted price level then you will either a) not get you money back out of it or b) have to set on it for a long time.
For example RN Superjets sell for $3000. Ones for less than $3000 sell INSTANTLY and ones for $4000 seem to take a much longer time to sell. There was a very modified RN (old race ski) for sale in the DFW area for the last 15 months for $3200. Now a rougher looking RN with no mods (in fact it had a single carb 61X in it) sold for $2300 just last week. The $3200 guy should have sold off his pipe, total loss and water injection for $1000, bought stock parts for almost free and sold the ski in <1 week for $2900.
Now I'm just rambling....
