Other GoPro alternatives???

I've been looking around for a cheaper, but close to the same quality of a GoPro cam to use while on the skis. What do you guys use or heard of people using in alternative to the GoPro cams? I know there are plenty of waterproof cameras out there I was just wondering what camera the jetskiing community likes the best. I can't seem to justify purchasing a $300 camera that could easily break off from where it is attached and have it sink to the bottom of some stinky river.

Go Pro 2 is the alternative, no i have been looking myself. You can get GoPro 1's alot of the time on Ebay for $150-150 shipped pretty easy. Just takes effort to find them and contact people who will listen to my Tommy Boy speech. I was looking at the Contour, (Conure, lol) but feel the Gopro has a better design IMO, no facts though. I plan on using the chesty mount once I get my Gopro 2 this black Friday. That mount seems to have great reviews from everyone except rock climbers.

Yeah I got my gopro hd 1 on amazon for cheap and get a chesty mount, it fits right over my lifejacket and is strapped to me so it won't get lost in the water.

I've used both snowboarding, never jetskiing, and I think the Contour is better for helmet mounting since it sits on the side and not the top (making you look like a fool). The ContourGPS and + do some cool things, like links to an iPhone over bluetooth so you can use it as a viewfinder. They also have lasers so you can aim the camera while its on your head (really nice on snow, probably useless on water).

I just picked up the new Liquid Image Ego and its superb, for only half the price of a gopro. I don't have any water footage yet because the case isn't even out yet

Its slightly larger than a gopro (thinner but longer) and basicly the same weight. Difference is the lens location, gopro is on the face and the sony is on the end. I googled for a side-by-side picture but didn't see one.
