ok, so my sj is heavy.....no, I mean HEAVY.......I mean, REALLY heavy....



it needs nothing outside of new foam and paint....I dont need to do any reinforcing or repairs....



where shold I make my cuts to make the job as easy as possible, with the smallest amount of re-glassing necessary?




i was thinking just cut out the entire sides of the gunwhale (leaving holds intact), and then just reglass them into place.......

can you get it all through exhaust hole, a scupper hole and the 2 holes in bulkhead with a long rod and wirebrush on end hooked to electric drill? Or at least enough of it where the rest might dry out?

Wouldn't it make more sense to cut the whole thing up, find the leak and fix it ?

Not trying to be a smart a$$, can the SJ rear be made water tight to keep the fresh foam dry or is that a pipe dream ?

why whould scott want to fix it when he has a chance to leave the leak and do it all over again later? refoaming is fun.:arms:

Well, there's that or maybe these things were meant to take on water. Turning back the tide might be futile.

What I'm trying to get at is that I used 4 large tubes of 5200 in the rear of my ski. I'm wondering if it's a matter of time before my foam gets wet or do I have a chance in hell that it will remain dry.

I agree completely! I cut my tray out from the top of rails from about 4" from bulkhead all the way to the back leaving just a square were the pump is at. This way you pull out the entire tray "bottom+sides". Makes it alot easier to get all the foam out.

When I put my tray back in I will make some shelve's "under parts of the front of tray and top of gunwhales" so that the tray is resting on them, and I can glass it all back together.

Hope you get what Im saying, hard to explain.
