Glassing over Squarenose Nosepiece...

My squarenose came wih a half assed nosepiece that had a coupel tabs broken off, and was basically put back on with bolts and washers.

I rode it for a couple months. I went for a submarine, blew off the nose, and watched the bright yellow nose sink the the bottom of the lake... Swam down and got it.

My ski is going for a repaint. I was wondering: Has anyone glassed over the nosepiece and ran an internal fill? Will glassing over the nose make problems with pole bracket access?

Does anyone have pictures of a glassed over squarenose nosepiece? I think it would look clean.

i glassed over my nosepiece and the filler but am still installing it like your normally would with some rivets as well. I did an internal fuel fill mod that someone did in the buildup section.

mine is carbon kevlar

here is my fugly nose piece, the water was too murky to see where the cover went so i just covered it and turfed it. I made the nose section alot stronger too while i was at it to eliminate the flex with a tight pole. its held up without any signs of ever letting go. i use an internal fuel filler for the tank but you can use the stocker piece real easy like to do the same thing.

My buddys ski is turfed over the nose as well.

In regards to the 2 bolt pole, its not a big deal. I'm probabaly going to use 2 bolts anyways as I'm rigging a roundnose pole onto a stock or fab'd bracket. Doesn't X Metal mount with 2 bolts anyways?

The yellow nose up there looks good. But I was thinking of actually closing it all down, foaming, glassing and never having it come off. Glassing it to the top deck is what I meant.

Any ideas on that?

i went back to the long single bolt cause i got sick of tighting it at the dock all the time, i even used loctite and let is cure for 2-6 days before reefing on it. it does stress the cable a bit more though

i would use a 2 part foam on the nose, shape it how you want it to look and then glass it:biggthumpup:and yes x-metal uses 2 bolts.

No more specs. Grabbed this off Ventec from rprmfactor.

stock 650, grate, plate, footholds, umi spring. I have picked up a protec pipe, and now a getting a roundnose pole for it (gonne shorten), degree bars, and am going to repaint it as the original paint really didn't last...

Re turf rails, maybe add some handholds. I don't really need more power just yet, would love to get better with tricks before adding more power. When I do I'll look for a Roundnose and than keep this square for my lady. She's rode it once or twice. She's alright on it too.

The pic in my avatar is actually when I bought it back in Feb, still in his garage, on his stand...

I plan to just do cheap mods until i need power. Than I'll buy something thats already half done. Much cheaper, I've learned that. Many mint skis for $3500 these days...

you got that ski from ventec huh, he's one of the St Cath crew, haven't rode with him yet. where abouts do you usually ride and with whom? we are always looking for more people to ride with. we are going to hit up the pipeline at spencer smith park Burlington when the spring rolls around. Does the hood have the Slutty mod on it cause that is cheap and works wonders. I was going to offer you a coffmans pipe but looks like you got one, we do have a 9/17 skat impeller if your still running the stocker. let me know if you want it. Looks like it is a good winter project, can't wait till spring.
