Hey This is an early start. But if we were to put together a free ride at torch lake for all us great lake area riders, next July who would go?
If you would go please share some info ie best place to stay all that good stuff.

Maybe if we get enough feedback we can plan something and make it happen

sweet i know we can get alot more riders. I know my dad will bring his boat and get us some wakes. I might be able to talk Tbaer and his wife into coming up from South Carolina with me. I know a few more people not on the forum back in Michigan that would probelly go as well

Torch lake is in torch lake, MI it is near Kalkaska, MI lower MI heres the map

I'd be there for sure. I might even be able to grab our family boat from Lake city and drag it up there. I love MI in the summer time. torch lake is simply stunning, i think it was voted one of the best, clearest lakes in the world.

I think Michael Moore has a house out there. He pretty much destroyed a wetland to build a huge freaking house out there (according to public record he has been fined repeatedly for environmental violations). I really don't like michael Moore at all (and i am not an elephant) since he is such a slanderous sensationalist. If anyone is interested he is a documentary on the real Michael Moore. :newangel:

Good to hear! I dont know if we can grab all 4 skis behind one truck though unless we use the flat bed, then loading the sit down would be great fun!

My lady and her family will be up there with another boat and a few sit downs. Does anyone know where there is a good place to to stay? Somewhere with like beach acess so we can ski from the place we are staying. I know there is a place that rents out cabins for a weekend thats right on the water. You probelly have to pounce pretty earlier to secure these. If anyone is interested in doing something like that

I think it would be best to get all of us to rent out those cabins or somthing depending on price and then we can all hang out, bbq and ride right from the place where staying. i ll try to get more info on pricing. But let me know if you would be interested in doing something like that

Option #1
Northwind hotel- On the water, south side of lake close to sandbar
This is where my ladies family stays they have dock and place to tie skis up.

Torch Grove Camp Grounds- Across the road from lake, launch ramp 1/2 mile from camp grounds, South side of lake
My parents will be staying here they just launch boat in morning and pull out at night. There is a place on the water across from campgrounds where you can dock or tie our skis up for up to 5 hours. They take reservations starting in April 09

Option #3
Cabin/Cottage rental- i dont have excat info the ones i was thinkin of that had a group of 4 cabins have been sold. Cabins range from $800-1000/weekly no weekend rental.

Please give me your thoughts, Also as far as dates We are shooting for July10-12 as of now 2nd weekend in july

hey man maybe we should see about doing a freeride at hunting island in around march. there is a camp ground right there and cabins. i bet the state park would be cool with it. just an idea
