Chatter’s ramping up…all eyes on Sebby this weekend for Florida’s only designated zone for “World Class Surf”. The swell is currently forecast to be strongest for Central to South Florida. Monster Hole has its desired NE swell building, and it’s strong. Fingers crossed it holds and cleans up more…

POOR-FAIR
SURF: 5-6 ft - head high to 1 ft overhead and poor-fair conditions.
Solid NE windswell/swell mix (11 secs), strongest for the southern portion of the region; E/ESE winds

The NSSA East Coast Championships begin today, so hopefully we don’t have to fight off all of those guys Saturday (no west wind, so doubtful…only happens about five times a year, but miracles do happen :cool2:):

Sure does! I personally haven't seen it like that at Monster Hole, but there was one day when a group of us were there that it was going off HUGE without the long tubes! I didn't even attempt it (would have broken up merely floating off the back end), but I rode the outside and had a blast!

EDIT: What an avatar, lol!

you guys can own the surfers on the water.....its just the parking lot you have to worry about.....

nah, the marine patrol sides with them too.

this has been going on for years with the surfers at monster hole. we usually lose. :nono:

they started coming around eventually over the years on decent days as they started to recognize the kooks and the losers on couches from the rest of us, but when its head+, glass and clean, forget it, its every man for himself.

yes... and it really sucks to be 200ft away from perfect breaks and not be able to hit it up because 10 surfers are fighting over it...

Sebastian Inlet is "known" as the only "world class" wave in Florida and I will use that term very loosely... That's why if it's predicted to be good, lots of surfers will be there including Slater, Hobgood and all that crew if they are in town. PLus you will have all the Orlando scum showing too. It gets busy out there. For Jet skiing it's better to go to the less well known breaks that surfers won't go or just don't.

here's the thing about sebby....what you see in that stationary cam is ALL YOU GET

too small an area, way too many surfers

Ill take my world class surf in a "non-designated zone" any day of the week

Hmmmm…LOL...where to start??? “Guests” first to be polite!

Zack – we are fortunate we don’t have to fight surfers off like you guys! It always amazes me how many friggin surfers are CONSTANTLY in the water everywhere in Cali (and how detailed your reports always are for it all)!!! Luckily, we aren’t as restricted with zones (yet) as you guys are. Oside needs to come over and teach these guys here how to fight for waves and win “fo sho”! Those tow in surfers are actually nice to me out there, whereas I hear they wave with their middle finger to you males (ha ha)!

Jumper – I WISH that were me! 20 years ago…I’d be showing up ALL OF YA! :brap:

Wolfe – I don’t believe we have ever met, but I look forward to it and hello in the meantime!

Idork - you don’t ride well enuff for “world class surf”, so I wouldn’t sweat missing anything if I were you :poke: (Butti and Ewok do though, lol)! The surfers stay on the north break unless it is one of the rare five times a year days...just so ya know! They don’t like the 20 minute paddle for the hole otherwise. Savannah Scott said he was there one time when it was going off during a competition (prob not like in the vid, idk), but he said they still hung in their primary zones, and the hole was completely free (just like Adam mentioned).

Adam – I’m jealous!

Saki - :cheer:

Stricky - you :silly: must have taught me the surf reports well, since nobody ever contradicts me (and you KNOW they would if they could…in a heartbeat)! :sgrin: Oh, and uhm… I found another vid…it’s shaky, but if you look closely around 43 secs at 9:00, I think they caught you inverted in a br  Miss ya bunches Boss!! :smlove2:

Slutty – no doubt you are correct about mega surfers on the rare premo days (agreed), but we could prob manage something on the right side. Sebby’s the longest breaking left on the coast…so they’re all headed that way anyway! In Oside, the guys don’t try to mix in the middle of them like friggin idiots…they pick a spot and stay there it seems (and don’t move, ha HA)! I don’t think we need to worry about it being one of the rare premo days this weekend (never know til ya show, and you COULD possibly win the photo contest with that stuff), yet it is going to be beyond sweet still (fingers crossed, actually looking better Sunday, but we are headed down tomorrow unless things blow out, hopefully Sunday too…must confer later today with others…low tide is 9:30am Saturday)!!

IN GENERAL: it doesn’t matter WHERE you prefer to ride…just get out and ride and have fun always (turf wars are just plan male ego stupidity :rocketwhore: …kinda like boat motor envy)! Here’s a pretty cool site for info on various locales (Huegonot, St. Augustine, Matanzas, Daytona, Sebastian…tons more we never discuss):

I’ve researched Monster Hole the past few years on various sites (surf and non-surf sites), and learned it received its name NOT from the large mammals we all cherish, but from the large lobsters they use to pull from there. What’s really interesting though, is learning how they have continually attempted to revitalize the reef, and how in doing so it always changes the breaks.

Wherever you ride this weekend…be safe! :grouphug:
