The top piece is shorter. That means you need an FX1 specific steering cable.

is it any shorter in lenth? i bought one for my ski to replace the hack job i had and didnt realize they wasn.t the same

Supposedly, it's 2 inches shorter. I don't know whether that's all in the top piece or not, though.

I purchased a FX-1 pole on accident when I was going to do a Superjet/SXR Handlepole conversion. Holding it up to a stock Round Nose fiberglass pole is a little shorter and the top bracket is shorter and a different shape. See in the picture that the mounting tabs for the chinpad are in completly differnt places. I don't know about a stock SJ chinpad, but I couldn't get a blowsion carbon fiber pad to fit on the pole without modifying it. The steering stop is molded into the bracket compared to a SJ pole which has a bolt and nut design.
