FX1 Makeover

Here is the ski fully sanded to 320 grit. I spent a lot of time knocking out high and low spots on the hull. I used epoxy filler to fill in any gouges and sanded the excess off. Good fun...

Jason of BJ's Performance put his business on pause just to come down and paint my boat. He does phenomenal work and I wouldn't let anyone paint this boat but him. He came down and the first thing he did was unravel the film and put up a paint booth in the garage.

Maybe now you can flip that thing!

That ski treated me well for a long time. I'm glad you are keeping her alive to play another day. Truth be told, that paint job held up to a lot, a lot more than I thought it would.

Why are you running the 08 SJ/fx1 pole? The standard SJ top piece and a SJ cable will allow a little more throw.

Looks good BTW!

Update: Mr. Champion and Tiago came over today to help me with a few - much needed items. Jon Hall came down from Orange County to help. We are working on the pump right now. Tomorrow will be turf and assembly. Jon and I will most likely be riding on Sunday. Good times... :Banane57:

Sanded the handlepole and wrapped it in carbon fiber. I let everything sit for a day and then used clear coat on the carbon.

Jon and I put the decals on. I decided to go with the old school stars to keep the history of the boat. Just giving it some bling! I love it!

I used the old FX1 pump nut thingy mibobbers and piloted a hole for the ring to sit in. I then mixed a thick batch of epoxy filler and smothered it all over the wings of the nuts to lock them in place. Doesn't look good and I am sure there is better ways of doing it, but I torqued the hell out of those pump bolts and those nuts didn't move so I think they worked.

Jon and I spent about a day and a half putting this boat together. All in all, I am pretty happy with how it turned out. Its missing a few items but you get the idea of what this boat is all about.

Oh yeah, that is a complete unmodified superjet pump in that hull!

Looks great. I can't wait to ride that ski again.

Here is a pic right after I bought it in 03.
I still have the auto trader ad from when I bought it.
