FX1 hooked battery up backwards

okay...I know I'm an idiot and probably shouldn't touch a jet ski ever again but I accidentally hook the battery up in my fx1 backwards (positive to negative and negative to positive). Didn't realize it but I realized the Ebox was smoking. Checked the inline fuse in the Ebox and the fuse connected to the bilge. Both are fine. Any advice on what to check? The Ebox is a bitch to get to so I would like to not have to mess with the Ebox. Any advice is gladly welcomed (even if you say I am an absolute idiot)

Have you hooked up the battery the correct way sense and seen if the electronics were actually damaged? If fuse didn't pop might have been a weak battery and didn't short anything.

We charged a brand new battery for about 4 hours but haven't charged the battery anymore but we will. My concern was the smoking coming out of the Ebox

I did it twice myself. The first time it just took out the fuse. I replaced the fuse with a much larger one that I had on hand and so the second time it fried the regulator.

Other's have fried the CDI and even melted the entire harness right back to the stator.

Are you hinting something?!?!

I charged the battery over night and tried it again this morning. The bilge pump works but nothing happened when I hit the starter. The inline fuse in the Ebox is a 25amp. Could that be too big

Well if you hooked it back up and nothing happened then you did do domething. If there was smoke it was too late but always worth a shot to test out easy stuff first.

As far as amp size I forgot what is in the skis. I feel like stock has a 15 amp so that way it takes the fuse first and not the electronics like you.

And it should be possible to take ebox out without motor although all together is so easy and never fighting each other when out

The ebox bolts are at the front of the tray. Either behind the oem compartment door, or under the turf, if the compartment has been removed. There is enough slack in your cables to pull the box out just far enough to work on it.

I got one screw out but the other is seized I think so any ideas on how to break it loose?

Finally got the ebox out after having to tap out one of the screws because it was stripped. Opened the ebox and it smelt like an electrical fire. I'm thinking I'm having to buy a new ebox, I think the stator is fine but not really sure how to check or how to check of anything is salvageable...any advice on what to check or just replace everything? Here a pic of the mess.

Any advice of if anyone has electronics for sale let me know

Pretty sure there are a couple complete 61x ebox's with stator for sale on here. I'm also going to be putting a complete one with stator up for sale shortly.

IMHO I don't think it looks that bad... It looks like the regulator let out its magic smoke. I've seen waterlogged ebox that look way worse and were resurrected.
