Removed the engine as well as housing bearing, do you approve of my housing JD? I don't know how to remove the bearings or coupler.

Went from 12" to 17 1/4" wide....Unfortunately, Yamaha did not want me to widen the tray, they placed my pipe pretty high...I will just have to make the most of it....(beating it!!! haha)

Went to Michael's picked up a 8x8" stirophome cube. I marked up a few lines as guidelines and I began sanding...I left them a little bigger just in case. This is my result.

Any thoughts on what grit sand paper I should use for that paint.

Dude........loose those Kawi 550 training wheels! Drill out the rivets and fill the holes before you paint. They didn't do anything for the 550 (and we used to remove them) and they won't do anything for the FX but screw up the handling.

BTW - your stuff arrived and it's being worked.

use 80 Grit for the sanding of the hull for paint make sure you do a primer coat then come back and wet sand the primer with 400 Grit after that you will be set to paint bud. This looks like my 550 build but almost worse as far as the carnage of a cut you did for your tray.
This will be interesting to see in the end.
Keep it up bud.

So I would consider today, a good day. JD insisted I take the sponsons off, so there they go! Also cut out the pump shoe area and the bolting area. I cut out a little bit too much in some areas such as bolting area and the pump shoe ring. But its nothing a little fiberglass cant fix. The pump matches up perfectly with the intake grate. I put on the 650 steering nozzle just to see how it would look, x2 nozzle is on the way. Overall I am pretty satisfied with today's work.

Lookin' good. You'll need an X2 tilt/steering noizzle though. It moves the steering pivot back 1" and lets the FX steering cable hook right up. It also gives you trim.

So I am finishing on gathering all of the parts and this is what is officially going on the ski, and remember this is a completely stock FX1 with ride plate, everything listed besides rideplate I had to buy, making $7.75 at a surf shop.

Hull-
Reinforced hull
Reinforced pole
Tubbies 1
Complete UMI steering, bars, turn plate, bearings
ODI grips
Anodized bilge fitting
5 1/4" added to the tray
Custom footholds
1" underpad
Black diamond cut hydro-turf
Dakine footstrap with insert kit
Hood straps
Lanyard
New bow eye
Pro-Tec top loader intake grate
Jet-Dynamics ride plate

Engine-
Pro-Tec head (175psi?)
Lightened flywheel
MSD spark plug boots
Kawasaki 650 pump
Yamaha housing/kawasaki bearing
900zxi driveshaft
Solas stainless steel 13/18 impeller
X2 steering nozzle w/trim

Now here is my downfall, paint....Depending on how much money I have left over will depend if this ski is going to Derek or not. If I have roughly $300-$400 left, I will take it to him. If not, I was thinking about doing gel-coat. But I am not sure yet. I will get back to you guys on what will happen.

Special thanks to Eddie, Jake, Ross, and JD for helping me thus far with my project and materials, you guys are awesome!
