fx1 as a flatwater freestyler vs sj ?

over the winter i was planning on building a flatwater ski and surf ski both sj .at the moment i have one for both . i just got a fx1 hull with engine vgc. now im thinking would this be a way to go . need to put a sj pump in it . will run a heavily ported 760 twin carb total loss etc would this be much better worse than sj ? wanted to use it in am comps so no hull shortening . just looking for feedback really . probably go the sj route but this hull is sitting here .Mmmmm

For flat water the Stock FX1 is ok. If you are wanting to do hood tricks then look into a superjet. Also, the stock pump on the FX1 is really small. It does not give the best low end grunt you need.

That's what I figured time and money spent on that I think I will look for another sj hull . I prefer riding to spannering lol

I had a nice fx1 a pump mod is a MUST!
With that said I weigh 210 and found the fx1 was just to small the tray is way small. I sold my fx1 and bought a rok hull my RN is much more fun to ride and rolls much easier than a fx1 and getting back to the setup wake is much easier on a SJ.
My advise is sell the fx1 and build yourself a nice SJ if your skills surpass the SJ platform then it's time to start thinking about moding the SJ hull or go aftermarket hull. For rec ridding a. Well built SJ is all you need.
Hope this helps.

i have both of these boats and i do the opposite of this.. fx1 is much more fun on flat than the sj

umm, brett you've never rode a stock fx-1. not really an educated suggestion.

I have and I feel the same way, I like the FX1 better for flat and SN for surf. But I also haven't really had the FX1 in rideable condition much. It's torn down again getting a fully converted to SJ pump, ride plate, etc, now. I don't have much ride time on it yet, but it's agility on flat is incomparable, IMHO.
