i need to get me one of those too

Yah, ya do! And slap a quick steer setup on it (pump comes back with a protec nozzle drilled for quick steer, just need the other end of it). I went with a -1" steering plate. You're pretty set, then. You already have a pipe, don't you?

No Square..No Round..FX-1
quicksteer already done, yes its piped and my pole cut 4" or so...

With a 144mm you could also use a 650 kawi steering nozzle and a newer style SJ cable...Lots more travel (@ the nozzle) than with a FX cable. Lighter too. :cheer:

We just drilled as close to the body of the nozzle as we could and it's got tons of throw, as much as you could ask for. I 'bout tossed myself off the side of the FX1 the first time I cranked it around and I've been using one on my SN for a while, now.

For 1k buks you could have a killer half carbon, half fiber F1-pro bottom deck from Waterdawg. It's already set up for a setback 144 and weighs -25 over stock. Why pay 650+ for a pump conversion?

I was researching the best way to do the pump conversion. I wrote Waterdawg and they gave me some prices fot the deck. Don't know if they where giving me a special deal or what but an all carbon bottom was $1350 and a half and half bottom was $1k. It was just for the deck. No other labor. I would have to dissasemble my fx then reaselmble everything. I just got the price this week.

Yea, I'm going to consider it when my FX hull gets here Monday. I'll see what the pump conversion task looks like in person before I go cutting out my old hull and all. 1k foor a stronger, lighter hull with setback 144 all ready to bolt in sounds pretty sweet. Just have to convince my wallet and my wife that it's such a great deal.

One of the locals here just did a 650 pump conversion last week.....the pump aspect of it is pretty easy..

the midshaft assembly mod is a little labor intensive and requres machinework to bore the assy to fit the kawi parts..

Bobs pump mod is sweet if you have the coin, and just a little work to open up the intake duct as well..

word is still out on the setback pump...I need more tray time to figure out what kind of difference it makes..

Yup....$50 if you send me good clean stuff. Not in it for the $$, really just do it to help folks out.

Ok i have the zxi900 shaft, 650sx pump complete, ans 650sx bearing housing.
What all do i need for u special fx? Do i need the 650sx bearing housing i have?

Also i'm going to throw more then 50 bucks at u for doing mine. I know u do it to help, but u have time involved and i heard u do a HELLL of a great job.

sweet..good to know

do you use a bridgeport?

Nope....lathe. Well, actually both. I use my Bridgeport and a hole saw to remove the center core out of the Kawi housing and then I take the center core and chuck it up in the lathe and turn it down to fit into the Yamaha housing. I turn it down to .002-.004" interference fit and then freeze it and press it into the Yami housing.

Process is left to right in pic:
