Ok guys......I did a long river run on the FX-1 today.

drove from Wisconsin Lake all the way up to the Dam in the lower Wisconsin dells.

My fx-1 has:

Aftermarket pipe
westcoast head
riva groovy ride plate
scoop intake
18-22 impeller
Tri oval aluminum waterbox
single mikuni sbn44 with Low jet = 120 High jet = 140

My FX-1 will go about 30 miles with a little gas remaining out of 4 gallons.

my throttle ranged from mid too full throughout the entire trip

it was a 60 mile round trip......a 5 gallon gas can from Menardes fits perfectly tight in the tray of the FX-1 ski

Just a FYI for anyone who ever wants to do a long river run on there FX-1!!

if anyone ever tries the same river (Wisconsin river) be warned that there are many areas were the river is very wide open and most would assume its deep but in actuality the water is only literally 2 inches deep.....and it comes at you in what appears to be "shelf's" under the water.........deep....shallow.....super shallow......deep.....super shallow.

My buddy where doing full throttle top speeds(its only only way to clear these shallow areas) and the river went from what appeared to be 100 yards wide passage......down to a tiny 10 foot wide 2-3 inch deep passage to get thru at full throttle..................we both pretty much did a last minute dash for the same little passage and collided into each other..... but had no choice but to keep the throttle open all the way................if you let off the throttle the slightest bit the ski will stick to the sand and stop immediately..............then you have to drag the ski for 40+ yards thru 2 inches of water.

Not funny at the time but sure was funny to talk about after the fact

The only things mentioned in the owner's manual from 1995 are:
FX1
Maximum fuel consumption: 26 litres per hour, or 6.9 US gal per hour

Cruising range at full throttle: 0.5 hour

701 SJ

Max Comsumption: 26 litres per hour, 6.9 US gallons per hour

Cruising Range at full throttle: 0.7 hours

No indication of distance though. I guess distance range would be affected by rider weight and direction of current in the water.
