SX/SXi/SXi Pro Fuel issue

I took my winter project out for the first time this weekend. I broke in the new rings and hone on about 3-4 gallons. Rode the following morning and it ran great. Let it sit for about 5 hours and then it seemed to have an issue. It would ride fine until I let off the gas then it sputter a little and stall. After that it would briefly start back up then stall again. Then I would prime 2-3 times and it would start back up and run fine until I let off the throttle. Unfortunately this was at the end of the day so I didn't have time to try anything. I'm using a js300 tank with stock pickup and the gas was at about 1/4.I'm thinking air was getting into the lines from either low fuel or lack of pressure in the tank. Or maybe a small hole in carb diaphragm? I only ride on the weekends so I would like to make a list of things to check so that I can figure this out when I go to ride. And I run my fuel line off the reserve and primer off the normal pickup

Check all of your your fuel/primer lines and connections for loose/airleak issues especially on the pulse lines to the carbs.

Check valve properly installed on tank?

I looked at the lines briefly on the beach but I'm going to double check. And the check valve should be good it worked fine for the first 5 gallons. I'll make sure it's still holding pressure since its prob 25 years old. I also just have a rubber end for pvc pipe in the filler side of the tank so i guess that could leak but it's on pretty tight. And I should be able to send you payment by beginning of next week for that list of parts... I didn't forget or anything.
