From Mobile to Nashville & back in this????

I just had to post it up, Michaelart is a brave, die hard member.
He rolled from Mobile to Nashville, loaded up (litterally) a full truckload of Kawi 750 stuff, then to Hopkinsville, KY. and is heading back today I think in the truck below. The ski's are sitting on skids and underneathe the front and back is cram packed full as is under both hoods and his front passenger seat.
Its like an 80 something model s10 4cyl 5 speed, that really only half exists from the rust eating half the truck. You really had to see this in person. He has 2 hulls, 3 complete pumps out of boat, 3 sets of cases, 2 cranks, 4 cylenders, ride plates intake grates, props, handle poles, multiple steering systems, multiple pipes and on and on. None of which are assembled loaded into this truck headed south. Its dark and hard to see but worth posting I think. I felt like singing the Beverly Hillbillies song for some reason.

What about that kid last year that rode a few times that had the S-10 with the bed missing but had bunks for his square rigged to the frame? The winch was inside the truck cab with the cable running out the back. I wish I had a picture of that...

Thats Kyle and he still uses same set up. It is a Dodge Dakota w/ a 318 V8, it was @ Lanear too. Its definateley purpose built.
Story is he got rearended w/ ski in bed of truck, we fixed the ski and he fixed the truck by simply removing the bed strapping some lights, some rails and a winch to it and it was ready.

It was definatelly a purpose build rig. The winch inside the cab cracked me up though...

I do remember a guy that got his ski on a plane ( passenger plane!) and went to Havasu for WF. When he got to the airport, he bribed a taxi driver to tie it onto the top of the cab. What we won't do....

yee haw! I made it home. First of all, it was a definite pleasure to deal with ya Brian (just don't post any more great deals.....or I'll have to fire up ol' red and head up your way....).......Yeah, the pictures of red don't quite tell the hole story (no I didn't spell it wrong) I'll post some daylight pics in the near future.......I am definitely feeling "ghetto" when I drive this truck.....It's a 1990 Chevrolet S10 4cyl 5 speed pickup truck with it's fair share of "character". Can't use 1st gear cause the synchro is shot.......speaking of shot.....got more bullet holes than the Valentine's day massacre......doors sagging cause of pillar and rocker panel rust (gotta slam the door just to get it to shut)....my mom took out the drivers side door, a gal took out the passenger side door, and the car I was pulling a while back swung around and dented the right rear quarter. Did I mention I have to fix the exhaust leak....blah blah.....this is the same truck that I used to take my kawi 650sx down to the lake and just slide it out of the bed into the water (even lost my brakes while unloading one time....brake line had corroded through......they obviously use too much salt in cheese country.....LOL)....Anyway it was a great trip.......got to see my blood grandmother in the nursing home....she still recognized me (that was priceless.....until the staff kicked me out at midnight....my aunts are fuming about them telling me I had to leave.....I love my grandmother.....) Then on to Mississippi to my daughter's great grandmothers house to do some "handy" work.......then back to good ol' LA.....Mobile, Alabama.......so from Mobile to Lebanon,TN to Hopkinsville, KY to Bogue Chitto, MS back to Mobile.....my guess about 1,100 miles from Wednesday to Saturday........only downs were rain, rain, and more rain (and wind) from Nashville to Mississippi.......and a blistered tire that caused a restful overnight stay in Oak Grove, KY.....and a visit to the Walmart Tire Center in the AM to get two new tires......did I mention that this was my first PAID vacation in over five years (being unemployed and/or a contractor doesn't count)......obviously Life is an adventure.......live it........Brian, gonna get a "surf" boat ready for when your crew hits Orange Beach........

Michael, Isnt that the same truck the window broke in when you slammed the door one night? Did you ever get it if fixed? Or were you driving in the rain with no window.

yep..

Yeah Donny, that is the same truck that I slammed the door on the way to Panama City to pick up the first load of XL700s and busted the window....:banghead: but luckily for me I went to Barry's U Pull It....and got another window for a whopping $18.20 including tax........gotta love that place.....:woot:

Sounds like you had a good time...
Been on a few road trips myself to pick up skis. My wife cant understand why I would drive so far but they usually always turn into an "adventure".

Still driving my 86' Toyota pickup 2wd truck. It's a beater and has plenty of character, but it still runs good and gets 30 mpg. I will prolly drive it until it drops:biggthumpup:
