Sounds right to mesflsurfrider said:in a word - hoodtricks.
sflsurfrider said:so how is that "way off"?
sflsurfrider said:competition freestyle is a judged thing. you can freestyle recreationally.
if freeride is for the surf, how could the x-h2o FREERIDE tour make a stop at lake lanier?

freestyle is generally referred to when talking about any tricks that involve either making yoru own setup wave, or doing a trick that requires no setup wave at all. it is GENERALLY done on flatwater (i.e. lake riders)
freeride is the more aggressive, big air, big tricks, big waves, ..etc. GENERALLY done in the surf. (i.e. yamaslut, havell, kenney, rossc, jetskier79, o-side crew, pancakepete, ..etc.)
wasteland's explanation was good.
9 out of 10 times.. freeride=surf, freestyle=flatwater
I would only add that freeriding isn't only aerials it riding the surf. If you watch a freeride cometition (well the ones I've seen on superjett.com) 50% of the score is for aerials and 50% is for surf riding.yamasaki said::haha: :haha:
