the 6m6 exhaust manifold will not work on a 701 cylinder. match up the gasket and you will see what i am talking about. it will leak water into the exhaust port. it may work for a few rides. trust me it will fail.

really? i ground out my coffmans exhaust mani off a 650 to match a 61x cylinder and it matched up fine. i even stuck my hands into the exhaust port from the top of the 61x cylinder to feel around. seemed fine... what do you mean?

no where the water jacket is on the outside . if you put a 61x exhaust manifold gasket on top of a 650 gasket you will see what i am talking about.there not the same.i used a 650 manifold on my blaster it ran all of 10 mins.your just lucky.

If someone could put side by side pics of the 61x exhaust mani and 650 mani I think we could get a better understanding, or even a picture of a 650 mani that has been dremeled. Fresh 61x case on the way.
 
Ok so have all (I think) the parts for my build. Any advice on assembling the thing? Of course new gaskets, rings and seals but any other advice? I head a lot about "Squish" not quite sure what this is. Also never have split a case or replaced crank, Iv been reading a lot about this but any extra advice would be greatly appreciated, you guys are great. Thanks

oko your coffman mani will work just fine with a 701 gasket. i was running one on my 61x with no problems at all. also if you matched the 2 you will be fine. and u will see the pipe makes a good amount of bottomend. bed plates are the same. you sold have told me you need a am rev limiter i had one also.. and what bolts do you need?

squish is the distance between the piston and dome. stock is around .75 .80
on mine im at .48
with that head and stb topend that you have you will befine on the squish so dont worry about that. you will also need some 1211 3 bond for the cases and a little on each gasket when you install them. Im no epxert soo maybe one can chime in on this. but i havent had a single problem with any of my motors
 
Any thoughts on the carb? Also, here are some pictures of the pistons that came with the ported cylinder. Let me know if these look reusable to you guys because I cant afford new ones at the moment. Also is an attached pic of my CDI that I cant tell if it has been modded. It has some sticker on it that doesnt look factory that says "Limiter mod" and has a small rubber piece glued in where I think the mod is made. Thanks guys

Or is this a better deal? I know some people dont like WSM so let me know what you guys think. Id hate to throw those used pistons in a fresh motor and have something go wrong, please let me know what you guys think. I appreciate it.
