SX/SXi/SXi Pro Found an old SXI.

Purchased an SXI this weekend. Stock....too stock. The poor thing has not ran in about five years. This is my first SXI so I would love some tips, pointers, suggestions, ect.

Convert to premix, block off crankcase drain and turf then ride! If porpoising is an issue (can be with these especially) look into a scoop intake grate and shimming the ride plate to get some nose-down attitude.

Fire it up before you put too much $$ into it. I got a 1994SX in worse condition and it runs flawlwssly with a bench no-part carb rebuild and new plugs!

You are golden.

Mine ran great first time out this fathers day. However with it being so much work (as well as shin bone shenannigans) it wasn't too popular and sat on the beach. It may be up for sale to get another sit-down.

Just ordered some stuff from Blowsion. I ended up going footstraps. I used them before in my SJ and loved them. Also a bit of a money saver. I should be able to turf the ski and put those straps in this weekend.

Pulled the fuel tank out tonight to clean it out and check the fuel lines. Front foam was surprisingly in great condition. The hull is in bad need of cleaning. I'm thinking since I have gone this far, to pull the engine and really clean in there.IMAG0079.jpgIMAG0080.jpg

I decided to leave in the engine in and clean around it. It's looking really nice. Magic Eraser, Simple Green, and 409 clean a hull very nice haha. I think the fumes got to me a bit. I pulled the gas tank to clean and get the sediment out of it. I left it outside last night and it rained in it. Any tips on getting the inside of the gas tank dry?

Any tips on getting the inside of the gas tank dry? I washed mine out with water and then blew it out with an air compressor. Set it in the sun and it dried out just fine.

Block off crankcase drain? could you explain in more detail?
