I run footstraps with footholds, 2 straps in back that attach on the sides and bottom of the ski, and 1 footstrap up front - right side.
Its really what you like and/or get use to. You can use straps if you don't want to deal with footholds at this time. Don't be supprised if you have to relocate them a few times to get them right.

old school lifters.. We used to just screw a block of wood into the side walls..

Now I realy to jump into some straps and or holds.. soon. peace..

I used lifter wedges my first year because they were cheap and easy to install. They worked OK, at least gave me a little something.

Last year I went with the straps and attached them to the bottom and the sides. I put both in the back because that is where my feet are when I jump. I was planning on putting one in the front but didn't. The first time I rode in the surf I wish I had one in the front. For river riding two in the back are fine. I really like the straps, they are cheap, easy, and effective. I'm sure they are nothing like footholds but so much less work and money I think it's worth it for a sxi. I figured I'd save my money for the footholds till I get a SJ.
