Heres the install of my holds, I am a heftier fella and like to chase boat wakes so I reinforced the entire tray with 17oz Biax. Riveted in my holds then did around 3-4 layers of 8oz strips on my holds.

photo 5-1.jpgphoto 1-9.jpgphoto 4-5.jpgphoto 2-8.jpgI need some advice. I cut into the exhaust side and I feel as if I went to far back in the tray. I dont see how the hold fits snug. If I have it flat on the tray theres a huge gap all around the top and sides. If I force top part in to make it flush, the bottom comes up. Should I cut larger or longer? I dont want to make a mistake that cant be corrected. The hold is also to tall, am I suppose to trim it to fit?
Any help is appreciated. This is my first time doing anything like this.

The flange on those holds are pretty wide. You can trim them down some to fit with the gunwale. Just get it so it fits nice and snug all around. Trim a little at a time til its perfect. When you screw or rivet them in place, they should be tight to the sides and bottom of the tray.

After seeing that 3rd pic more closely, you might have a little trouble with a gap that big. How flexible are the holds? If you cant work that out well enough, I'd consider getting different holds.

Mine did a similar thing. You should be ok on the spacing.

If you look on my pictures on the previous page you can see where I trimmed the top and sides of the hold. The holds come with extra overlay, trim off what you dont need. Is also look like you have to dig out more foam to have it sit in there more. My holds were pretty much touching the outer walls of my ski.

I remember it took two people and some man handling to rivet it in place.

Call me bro, Just no time to type out instructions then come back and forth to the X to walk ya through six one five five hundred four seven two one , anyone needing instal help can call me. Its simple but most tend to over think the process, cutting holes in your hull is nerve wrecking the first time around. The hold instal is really ALOT easier than the turf instal so save the stress for that LOL.
I have installed LOTS of holds in my day in MANY different boats, I promise its not hard.

I bought #8 screws. Is the procedure:
Apply 2 part epoxy to foothold and boat and then place hold in gunwale and screw in every 2 inches, allow to dry, then remove screws?
Also is it safe to use dremel to trim hold ? thanks

yes its safe to use a dremel.. and when installing my footholds i basically used your same procedure, the epoxy will cement the hold in place allowing you to remove the screws.. make sure to glass after that (duh)

You can just grind down the screws.... they might be hard to remove after all the epoxy (I would recomend rivets)

I cut my holds with a jig saw.... its ganna be tough with a dremel. They are thick!

Lol guess I'll be picking up a jig saw then!
Here's some progress pics. I got it more flush now. There's still a gap on whatever opposite side I put pressure on but its pretty flexible and toby says I should leave the screws in when i
Install it.
Btw what do you recommend I use to scrape all the turf glue off with? This plastic scraper I'm using ain't that great
