SXR Foot tray leak 800 sxr

Hello all!!

My ski was laying nice on the beach :) once I came to my ski...hey thats heavy....full of water turned on the bilge and went back home...testing with a garden hose and filled up the engine compartment...more water no leak...some more stil nothing dripping on the outside filled m up untill the intak manifold of the carbs...nothing dripping I was stunned....until I held up the front water was comming out of my foot tray on the left site....did i jump to high is it cracked?? Should I open it up and refoam or leave it and run te bilgepump more often ? I read that the foam Wont hold water? Should I just let it dry and seal the turf al around the edges?
Let me hear your experience! ! ;)

Thanks

Ilja

That foam shouldn't hold water. Do you have footholds? Have you checked your drain plug and exhaust outlet make sure a bolts not missing and letting water in some how? Have you checked for cracks? Check the bond line?

Yes I have foot holds and seems al the bolts are tight and there. There's new turf on there so can't see cracks but water is comming out of the site of the foot turf if I put the ski full of water...so it is comming in when laying in the water....so I thought should I fil al the edges of the turf with some black kit/glu how ever you name it..

I don't think glueing down the turf would work. But idk if it where me I'd cut my losses and rip the turf out to find the problem. If it is a crack your going to want to fix it before it gets worse! If it's coming in around your holds you'll want to throw some more glass on it to seal it up.

Few more months to go...it's summer I'm not gonne rip it open in the high season ;)) he will take me to the end hahaha

Get a versaplug...should drain any water out of the back of the ski. Screws right into your normal drain plug. (The sxrs store water in the back anyways, so as far as I'm concerned, versaplugs are MANDATORY because the back is wide open).

Then in winter, rip off the turf and patch up those holds.

The foam around your holds may hold water if you added extra foam when they were installed...if extra foam wasn't added, it probably wasn't strong enough and cracked.
