"Foam" is a 4 letter word.... :(

A ski doesn't need foam to float, it would actually float a hair higher in the water because of the less weight. As long as the hull is watertight all you are losing is strength and a piece of mind.

you guys are crazy......10lbs is not worth potentially losing my boat...

Nick, wasnt that a close enough call for you yesterfday?

try 8lbs per gallon....

my ski weighs at least 30lbs more now that my right hold is broken

I have lost track of how many times Slut has inspired me to build something a particular way.

I am going to build my new X2 with whatever technology you invent for your round to make it light and foamless. Where do I get a bag of ping pong balls?

And one of those light batteries Bronson uses is on the wish list too!

McMaster Carr use to carry floatation balls that are used to keep down evaporation in open top tanks I just haven't found them yet I have a new catalog. You can buy them by the bag.

that thing was pretty sweet! Bill (local daytona rider) also had one that was GEL cell

the ping pong ball theory has me intrigued though......there is no way in HELL i would run my ski with nothing inside of it though

I would reinforce the sides then make up some trusses out of fiberglass stock and glass them into the side’s bottom and top at the tray running horizontal across the ski I think you will only need two of them. Remember if the ski is sealed well it is also a big balloon of air in back.

This is a very new idea and I am taking suggestions... Right now I plan on carbon reinforcement... ya know, like the insides of the engine compartment... The rear and inside pump area will be fine... foam won't do much there anyway, as far as structure goes. It's probably the most rigid area. The tray and holds will need to be strong!!!!

keep any suggestions flowing...
