Flipping couches for fun and profit

I have never taken one out before, only a WB1 so it should be fun getting some test time on it before it goes away. haha yeah I can imagine they like fuel with their 10 gallon tank! :D
Making progress. I fixed the weak spark issue which ended up being a bad ground. I still have some more polishing, new seat cover, turf and find replacement YAMAHA decals for the back. I am also going to use SEM purple vinyl paint on the knee guards and original handlebar pad

That GP760 came out really clean! I can see why you are keeping it. I have a 98 GP800 and kind of wish it was a 760 for better simplicity.
Keep?? No no it's for sale! We're flipping couches here not hoarding

This ones minty!
just needed a carb rebuild, an OEM coil, some jank wiring on the bar controls resolved, a broken sponson and some bumpers replaced, and a good cleaning.

and with the right research I am able to find cheap couches, most of them are less than $100/200 , i always fix them up for the memorial, Labor Day and 4th of july, these are the days where they just get scooped up fast .....

I checked out the GTX above today. I found somewhat milky oil, and some water in the cylinders. Who even KNOWS how long it's been in there. I went ahead and threw a battery in it not expecting much.......it cranked over fine and shot dirty water out of the cylinders.......hmmm.......well, it's not stuck AND it must still have some compression........MAYBE there's hope for this thing. I used a livestock syringe and piece of tubing to extract remaining wter from the cylinders and shot a BUNCH of penetrating lube in it. I'll have to pull the intake and charger off so I can see the valves and condition of the charger gear. That will tell me how much water has been in it and whether everything is a rusty mess or not.

I hope it turns out well for you . I had a guy buy a hull from me on a GTI 130 that had bottom damage , he wanted me to do a hull swap with mine, he neglected to tell me he sank the ski , it probably sat with water in it for 6 -8 months , other than doing an a$$load of oil changes it cranked and worked just fine.

Keeping fingers crossed on the SC GTX. Intake was full of water.......intake pockets and backside of intake valves had rusty colored foamy goo. After cleaning that out, the valves are shiney with no rusty spots that I can see.....nothing pitted and no scaley rust stuck to anything. Pulled the valve cover and NO hints of rust, not even on the timing chain. Sucked out oil which was slightly milky but not overfull. Supercharger had the same goo in it but cleaned out well.......POSSIBLY someone sprayed fogging oil into this thing??? It has some discoloration but only slight pitting here and there. Slip checks out at 73in#. Backside of charger in good shape with no signs of rust. Right now I'm thinking if ANYTHING got rusty, its the rings and valve seats. All back together now and ready to put in some fresh fuel and run on the hose.

Sometimes you just get lucky, I have one here that has been sitting with water in it for years, I can't wait to see what is lurking inside there when I tear it down .

I should get rolling here this coming week , i will post some stuff when I get going , this business is like a train , you have to pour the coal to it to get it running down the tracks , after that you can ease up a bit , this train has come to a complete stop , mostly that's my fault , I am working to correct it ASAP.

Guess not........I cleaned out the tank, back flushed the FPR and injectors, put in fresh fuel, got it to cough a few times and fire up!!! The engine is NOT happy. Nasty grumbly noise from the lower end and glitter in the oil filter. I saw the particles at first but saw no signs of damage to the supercharger. I thought maybe it came apart and somebody replaced it but didn't change the oil. Guy I bought it from said it had a "pump problem' and that's when it got parked. NOW I"M THINKING the pump came apart and nobody cared, just kept trying to ride it while the driveline thrusted forward eating up the lower end. That's the only thing that makes sense. ANYWAY, I can't make any money trying to fix it so I'm gonna try to sell it as-is with another GTX I have that I was parting but still has a good engine. 2 for 1 type deal that somebody could piece together.

Anyone have a 717 crank with ggo inner crank seals they could part with cheaper than an SBT exchange ?

The one i just pulled has a slight issue

You mean the inner crankshaft seals , yes we see them , if it's a 717 it has to be at least 20 years old as they stopped production of the 717 in 2005 .

Back in my younger days I pulled a 587 crankshaft apart, replaced the inner seals and nothing else, the ski ran perfect and I will never do that job again, a friend of mine sold the woman the ski knowing it wasn't right , then he pawned her off on me to fix the problem , these days I am not that hard up to make a dollar anymore .
