Watch lots of videos of folks doing rolls & setup wakes, and then do even more practice. LOTS of practice.

It all takes practice. Mine are decent so far this season (never did get much practice last year.

Be sure you give yourself time to come around on the wake, then basically follow one side of the setup wake (One branch of the V or U usually) to hit the sweet spot where they merge. Try to follow the one line in, and then follow the trough from that line in to the spot where they merge.

Also, for rolls, Ive heard its best to roll in the same direction as the wake, but having not tried rolls thats about all I know of technique there.

It really shouldn't be a problem on a SJ. It helps to have someone watch or get a good video so you know what needs to be done. It definately helps if the person watching knows what to look for as well. Like Mark44.:arms:

This was two weeks ago, one of our first rides this year. Take note wet box is on smooth water, with a little bump in the water he gets it.

I tied all last summer to roll and all I got was a nice inverted stab. This year is deticated to it, I feel close but am missing something, its not the ski, I let a friend try it on my boat and he did it, bpipe, mild porting, head, msd, prop, 4 1/2" minus steering and pole. I think setup is everything and knowing you can do it.

Looking at that picture, here's what I notice: You are not down to the ski close enough. Put the pole on the hood, get your body waaaay forward.

Thanks for the tip, I know I just need to try a different form, next step is doing it, I feel like I am in a rutt with the stabs.

:banghead::banghead: Dammit! I suck. That's it, I am throwing away my gynelotramin and doing it this year. Shooot. I guess flatwater rolls are on my agenda this year too!

We have a member of our group that can pull them off with his stock SXR he doesn't even have a scoop grate footholds only.
This proves to me that technique is 99% of a roll.
