Flat Landing BF's = No Bueno

This last weekend in Mexico I landed a backflip flatter than I ever have before, on probably the biggest BF I've done. The impact sent a shockwave through my joints, and bent my turn plate about 15 degrees. My ankles and wrists still ache a little from it.

I was just looking at some footage of my backflip in the Adrenalina footage. I landed just a hair before flat, but my body still collapses quite a bit on impact.

I've decided that it's a miracle that Pancaker is still walking. I need to break this recent trend. Control Control Control. I'm not into this wild toss myself into the wind and hope it comes out alright, becuase the way it's going right now, it won't be long before it DOESN'T come out right.

Just my thought for the night. :crutches: :crutches:

Agreed, Jerr, you scared the poop out of me. That learning curve has got to me one of the most dangerous times. I just posted something about that too. Keep it up though, you've come so far in such a short amount of time.

You know, I once heard a guy explain what it was like to be on the edge of freestyle moto-x. He said something like "People don't realize that I'm putting myself on the edge, I'm putting my self in harms way and when it goes wrong, I can really get hurt."

We can kind of wink and not worry too much . . . water sport and all . . . but eventually if you push it far enough . . . we start to put ourselves in the same place. Perhaps we forget the potential harm (due to the less traumatic results of falling in the water) and press onward until we become GREAT or get hurt. Or both and not in any specific order.

Anyway, I've not succomb to the back flip issue yet (hard to do in Kansas), but I can see how it would be a major consideration where you could ride in surf all the time.

don't fight it... just colaspe into the ski, or off the back if possible... It's like a drunk in a car wreck... the more relaxed the less injury...

I'm with yamaslut on this one. Anytime I flat land hard, I just turn myself into a ragdoll and try to collapse next to the ski by shifting my weight to one side. Usually I fall to the left and let go with my right hand

For sure, I definitely agree with that.....but I'd rather try to correct the problem than cope with the situation.

Before Ross hopped on the SJ, I don't think I ever once saw him land flat. I've never seen JK land flat (maybe becuase he throws them away if that's going to happen).

I don't think it's just something to accept. They can be done with greater control. I aspire to learn that control.

I am learning that control. and as I go bigger and bigger I am learning to throw it away... if I am going to land flat on a big one !

Word up.. its about having fun, going big, and learning...

Almost half of my backys are flat landers... That is pretty bad.. working on it though
