So on Sunday I took the ski ('96 SXI) out for its first ride since I got it. It actually was also my first time on a standup at all and I have to say it was pretty damn fun.
I don't think I had the throttle opened up more than 25% (that thing feels like it can really haul ass) and I was trying to get the basics down. You know, turning and ummmm standing up. All and all after about an hour I wasn't doing too bad, though never really throttling more than the 25%.
One thing I did notice is that when I got brave with the throttle the boat was really porpoising (I was riding in a bay, so there is chop) like crazy. It's part of the reason I never tried going much faster because it was kind of a bitch to keep it hooked up. Could this be because I was leaning back when standing? Should I be leaning forward when I ride to keep that nose down? Do I maybe need to do some mods to the ski to stay hooked up?
