FIRM ANSWER on what size crate to use Forward air (SJ)

I've read the threads and topics on shipping, but I think we should come with a firm answer for this because it seems like with a small the SJ might almost fit, but not quite so you need a medium box right? Some people then said that you should use the large box. And I am still wondering if maybe you can even use the small box because people were mentioning the $400+ price for cross country (on average) shipping. The $400+ price if your shipping lets say from Cali to NY would be for the smallest box, so have people used the smallest box?

So lets come up with the 1 single box that everyone should use to ship just the boat (we're talking about Super Jets only). Also give how much space is left around the super jet in each direction, and also how the super jet is placed in the box. This is boat only, nothing else that would take up any more room. But if the most practical sized box and the sized box ur forced to use anyway does allow extra space for other things, beach carts, extras, anything common you might want to squeeze in. But dont worry about anything else beside the ski at first unless the extra space that you have to use is very obvious. The ski may fit perfectly in a certain sized Forward air box, and have no room for anythin else in the box. If thats the case well the mission is accomplished that what we wanted to find out what one box we should use for a Super Jet nothin else no trailer nothin when Shipping with Forward Air. But once thats been found out, we should find out what size box you need to fit in a few extras. How much space you have to work with for extras, and some examples of the extras that could fit in the box weather together or alone.
But for now it should just be one answer, small, medium, or large with some detail and explanation of how everything comes together. Should be real simple. So this way everyone can easily ship there boats, with ease and worry about acquiring a trailer locally if needed, or if a trailer is going to make you have to upgrade your box/price the ;ets not worry about shipping that. We all know that super jets dont necessarily even need a trailer, and at 300 lbs you and your buddies can launch ur boat quite easy if not just as easy if not easier lol just carrying it.

Oh yeah and round nose square nose? They are different weights right the round noses come closer to 300 lbs or pretty much are. But both skis are close enough to 300 lbs on average once being used, just to play it safe and round it up to 350 lbs I'd think. If your suppose to put it on a pallete then add the palletes weight in too. But I have no idea if a pallete would be the best way to go. I heard someone say they pu t a blanket in there under it that sounds ok. Lets come up with a system that everyone can use and ber 100% certain of, and make it a routine. A guy kinda just estimating said to put the weight at 365 to be safe, but every thing he thought was based off of what I told him, and I wasn't totally sure on the measuremeants of the ski and when your not sure in a situation like that you usually just over compensate to play it safe if your not really gonna take some time to figure it out. So yeah! Lets figure this out or if you already know the definite answer.... Say it :)

lol ya

well yeah thats an option but I thought Forward air had a pretty good deal and offered good peace of mind when it comes to shipping a whole super jet. I'm sure just using a crate and fed ex or something would work out just find. But forward air is also definitly a good option for shipping. So what I am asking what is the one and only sized box to perfectly and safely ship a single super jet with nothing else. Only enough space for the super jet is needed and of course the smallest box you can use and fit you super jet in comfortably. After that then we could put some details up on what its like to ship a super jet in a box that you would want to put extras in like helmets and extra parts or even a super jet trailer combo, and give people an idea how much they can fit. Because Im not sure about this but I think the person buying the boat is the one who arranges and pays for the shipping most of the time, so this would be all good to know before hand so the person who is almost doing a favor for someone who is not local, by bring the boat to where u ship it at the airport or wherever. And gets straps and a master lock to close it all up for you. I know its not much, but some people might look at it as an extra hassle, so yea and then for that person on that end of the deal to get to the shipping place and find out the boat doesnt fit. If he couldn't call me up and get ahold of me right then and there to pay more money for a bigger box, it would be a no go and annoying on everyones part. And you shouldnt have to buy the biggest box possible and waste money just to insure your super jet fits. (I know a normal crate would be cheaper) But this is when it comes to using Forward Air but still trying to save money of course. So whats the smallest box you can use, that you know for a fact from forward air out of the 3 choices of boxes, without squeezing the ski. Im thinking the medium or maybe even the small, but in the thread in the tech faq topic people were like saying larges and talkin about shipping cross country and using the price for the small box at around 300+ lbs from east coast to west it says high 400's. But these people acted like they were talkin about large boxes from forward air. But the large Box cross country is like 800 something dollars. So what works best the medium or the small box for just a super jet no trailor no extra parts, no beach carts, just the super jet?

The smallest that you could use is EXC. I think that is what you refer to as medium. I have used this myself. It's easy to take the ski to the terminal and strap it into the box (I was on a business trip in San Diego and did not have the meas to make a crate). Your most cost-effective way is to supply your own crate. Make a crate (from Home Depot) or go to a cycle chop and ask for a bike crate or jet ski crate.

From Forward Air's web site:

SMC: 61"L x 44.5"W x 44"H

EXC: 98"L x 44.6"W x 47.6"H

LGC: 118"L x 44.6"W x 59"H

A few inches here and there isn't going to make much of a difference on the price. Build it big... give the ski room for the beating the crate is going to take

RoXziLLa, we would love to help and I hope the question has been answered.

If it has not, let us know... in less than 4 sentences, averageing 10 words max.

If my ADD has not made me misunderstand...

1) you want to ship a ski from east coast to west coast via forward air.

2) you want to use the smallest create possible, with the option of putting some "gear" in the voids.

Is that correct?
